i was "Enabled" on to this deck back in 2009, thanks to our pal, the Stuwster.

TH member "Dimitar Georgiev" had the deck up on EBAY for $200.00
i contacted him and offered what he was asking for it outright,
and he pulled it and sold it to me.

it is, by orders of magnitude, the very best Cassette deck
i have ever owned. it is, internally, identical to PIONEER's
ELITE version. the CT-91.

i am aware that the EURO/WORLD version
of this U.S./CAN. model, the CT-939, actually has a cassette-well door
with the "Reference Cassette Deck" legend in PIONEER's classic
beautiful longhand font that PIONEER advertised on the CT-S800
in their 1988 catalog, but left off of the actual production models;

if there are any members here that happen to have a CT-939,
and, for whatever reason, is willing to sell it at a good price,
or willing to part-out that door panel, please let me know...

I'd forgotten about that story :D , yep I can 'enable' with the with best of them

That sure is a pretty deck, IIRC I had just bought my beasty Teac, and that popped up from -dimitry-, otherwise it would have been Mine

Just a beautiful deck, sounds fantastic too

Nando lives in BC and might be able to find you a spare door. Just wave a 'half sack' of Guiness Draught under his nose....he'll get you anything.....even cooties :tongue2:

It's possible I may find a cassette door from a Pioneer CT-939 on my travels. If I find one I'll certainly let you know.

Scott (braxus) bought a CT-91 recently.

thanks a bunch!!

also, it was a CT-93 that he bought, actually.

the CT-93 came out in 91/92, and it was the direct successor
to the CT-91, which came out in 1989.

in fact, the CT-93 was PIONEER's very first deck with DOLBY S NR, IIRC...

Yes, it is a CT-93. Scott was kind enough to offer it to me for auditioning once he had spent some time with it. He knows how much I am into Elite components. His Tandberg 3014A is a beaut, and he is beginning to realize how well it plays and records as compared to other top flight cassette decks.

Hi guys. Yes it was the CT-93 I got not long ago. I've used the deck a few times to try it out. Still doesn't compete with my 3014A deck though. Dynamics seems a bit squashed unless my system or headphones is lying.

That said Nando sometime I'll pass it along to you. I won't be going back to IA, so I'll have to meet you somewhere else.

Scott,

I would be happy to make a run to Chilliwack, but I have only weekends off. And you work Saturdays, still?

Recognize the T-shirt? You have to wear yours more, it's a babe magnet. thanks for the great one-of-a-kind shirt!

For some reason your picture attachments don't show up on this forum when I read the post. Sure you could come back out here. As for Saturdays- yes I still work them, but we'll see. Im looking into switching jobs, but we'll have to see if I get it or not. Im not counting on it- but maybe I'll get lucky.
