G'day from Australia.

I've been looking at getting a new amp, and I thought. You know what I love this old PL400 s2 I have sitting around. But I've been to Afraid to use it on any speakers I care about.
It's in original condition as far as I know, currently working, but thumps at turn on/off.

I'm keen to make this the best sounding amp it can be.

I've emailed white oak for advice/parts order, but haven't heard back.
So thought Ide start here :)

Just getting this post rolling, I'll add more details soon.

But firstly I'm after advice on what kits / parts I'm gonna need for a comprehensive rebuild/wopl build, and where do I order the parts if I don't hear from white oak?

Kind regards

I'm confident with a soldering iron, qualified avionics engineer (glorified aircraft lightbulb changer) but it's been a while since I've modded an amp. So detailed instructions and advice will likely be required. This forum looks like it has all I need!

Thanks to all who have already committed so much to restoring these beautiful amps! I'm excited to see it back in full time service :)

Do the FULL WOPL. Joe will answer your request in the order he gets them and he gets a lot. He'll fix you right up. Don't half step and do a partial. I'm listening to my 400 II WOPL (and my 700 II WOPL for the bottom end, I'm using the 400 for the mids and tweets) right now. Awesome amps. Start reading the 400 full WOPL threads. It's entertaining and it will give you something to do while you wait for the Engineer Extraordinaire.

Awesome! Thanks!!

Rough Estimated costs for the full wopl? I just love the abbreviation haha!
USD is fine.

I'll have some extra shipping expenses, but that's ok. Was gonna drop a bit on a new amp, but would rather upgrade.

Here is a typical component list for a PL400 SII full WOPL build, see any of my past builds for examples of this assembly.

As mentioned, be patient in waiting for responses as White Oak is a one man show with extreme thoroughness and attention to detail.

Bold items can be ordered directly from Joe at White Oak. Just send an email with this list and ask to be placed into the queue. Once ready, Joe will send you a PayPal invoice (assuming shipping out of the country is still feasible).
