Phase Linear III Andromeda Speakers

Give yourself the ultimate holiday gift. For sale is one rare speaker set indeed. This is the elusive Phase Linear Andromeda Speaker System. The brain child of Bob Carver, these behemoths were designed to reproduce a live musical experience. The speaker panels each held two 8" midbass drivers, two 4" midrange drivers four 2" cone tweeters and a 1" soft dome tweeter. The subwoofer module had two floor-facing 12" bass drivers. The frequency response was 24Hz to 20K Hz. Yes 24Hz! Earth rumbling indeed! Rounding out this system was a motion controller, which shaped the sonic experience to your specific listening environment. For starters this particular set is in great shape, especially for being almost 40 years old. The midrange drivers succumbed to foam rot, but were recently re-foamed. All the drivers work flawlessly, and the subwoofer looks fantastic with only a few dings here and there. The speaker grills are in really good condition minus some wear and light staining. The best looking grills can be mounted to face the listener. There are a few other flaws worth mentioning. One panel has a small crack running up the side trim piece from the bottom, which can be fixed very easily. One fuse holder for the Subwoofer is missing a cap, but I am in the process of replacing the whole holder. Unfortunately I do not have the motion control module, but they do turn up on E-Bay. I believe the last set of Andromeda speakers was auctioned on E-bay over two years ago! These are a fantastic example, and will make their new owner very happy. Their sale will make my wife even happier
These speakers are huge, and I will not ship them. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. Questions can be messaged to me, or feel free to call 9782041823. Price for Audiokarma members is $750.00 or BO

I have that site bookmarked and checked it as soon as they were posted. Kind of sucks they don't post a power rating there. That's what matters most to me as I am pursuing a set of affordable speakers one of these WOPL's can't blow up

here ya go; Power handling was 350 watts per channel rms. I'm sure that could be improved upon with more
crossover design by todays standards.

They remind of the Polk SDA SR5's in looks but I am sure blow them out of the water with the lowend. Looks like Peerless tweeters in them?

Thanks for all the links mike!!
Your welcome Jason. And thanks to Ron for posting them. Brought back some memories.
I had an interest in these back when they released, but there wasn't a dealer in my area then that had any. Instead I
bought the Infinity Servostatic 1's. These were electrostatic panels and also a base sub. I powered them with a PL400.
Man they sounded good, but suffered from too many problems. Long gone.
Its good these speakers are far away and I have too many speakers as it is or I would be trying to convince my
wife how I need them.:toothy5:

I am calling the guy today. Jason, they might be ugly by todays standards but I listen to them, not look at them. It's what comes out of them that counts. Khorn's sound like a total hassle to get right and very expensive when you make mistakes in volume knob control and knowing me, I would blow something up in them that I would not be able to afford to replace fast. Maybe someday I might get Khorns (2 pairs for sale here in Coventry... I went and heard them and I was not impressed in the least and they were driven with McIntosh MC20s) but I am going to take a shot at the Andomeda's. I would just redo the grill covers in black

They don't need anything Lee, possibly recapping though. He already refoamed what needed to be done and he says all the drivers are fine

I'd deff be checking them out if I was close! I haven't heard horns or big pl or polk style speaks. I've just heard different polk monitor series stuff and nvr liked it. I might not like horns once I hear them! But I got to try something lol. I'll become dormant .. Lol

I am not going to bother with these, he only needs cash

The big Polks are a completely different animal from the old Monitor Series. I blew up Monitor 10s in less then a minute with Blackie so what was still good I parted out and sold and smashed the cabs so they would fit in the garbage bin

I am sticking to finding 15" 3-way CV's. Cheaper in the long run!

Yeah power handling wise cv is gonna be the cheapest best bet. If you watch cl you can score some d9's or dx9's or AT15's for around 250 or less!!
