It's Beer Season!
I had not been a big follower of Phase Linear, can someone bring me up to speed on the Phase Linear D-500?

Thanks, Jim

Here you go.

Larry

Thanks, I had read that, I was wondering more from personal opinions. If anyone had first hand information.

Jim

They are a F%$^&$# BEAST!!! Complete with DC protect. As easy to fix as the rest of them. If ya wind up with one we can White Oak it or keep it stock but we can fix it.

What would a nonworking one be worth?

Jim

I would say depends on the looks. 100 to 150 or less. What do they say is wrong with it?

Larry

What are you two doing in the same post above   get a room!!! :o

I remember seeing the D-500 when I ws in HS, very yummy looking, they were some of the first big amps to use LEDs for meters in the late 70's, I liked the BGW's that moved in an arc like a VU as well. I never heard either, they were abit out of my range as a wee lad.

A non-worker on E-bay will go for 800-1200. A working unit 1800-2500.

Becaue they are rather rare and when you get to the 500watt per channel rangee things get expensive.

No, i ran accross the one on eBay and was curious, it is just to pricey at this point for me.

Hi All - I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would chime in since I have a D500... as suspected, this amp IS a beast. The one I procured was not working and I paid 1k for it. But it was from a buddy I knew and he knew the history of the amp. It was a little rough, and apparently well used, but still has a lot of life left in her.

The bottom end on this amp is unbelievable. Solid is an understatement. It shares the PL400 / 700II op-amp style PCB, but I don't mind that. This amp was not made for "boutique listening", it was made for recreating Saturn V rocket launches in your living room.

I'll take the covers off soon and snap a bunch of pix for the forum members here for a "virtual tour" of a D500 if you want.

If the D500 could come to life, it would be in the image of... some girl I saw in 'Vegas.

Don't you hate some of the things you have to leave in Vegas. lol Everything stays but STD's, they follow you home. lol
