Hello
I restoring my Phase linear 700b and need to remount the filter capacitors. After looking through this site I have noticed various methods that members have used to secured the filter capacitors without gluing them in. In a few pictures it showed using a metal band to secure the capacitors which looks like a good idea but I can't tell how they attached the band to the capacitor base. I'm looking for other recommendations for securing the capacitors or maybe a description of the metal band method and how it should be secured to the capacitor base.

thanks for your help

That "Metal Band" fits in two slots between the transformer and the chassis. You can see them if you have the transformer out. Joe at White Oak has options to mount the caps.

There are several methods from the Phase Linear factory and later folks like us. You are already familiar with the glue that Phase Linear used. Here are some pictures I have of PL700B amplifier Capacitor hold down methods. The first two require a 2" #6-32 screw into the Aluminum Cradle, the last one uses a #8-32x2" stud after you drill and tap the existing #6 hole in the cradle, or you can use a #8-32 screw inserted under the aluminum Cradle. As stated above, when you order a PL700 Capacitor Kit from WOA - https://www.whiteoakaudio.com/estore.aspx - you will receive the required mounting hardware. Or ask one of us, we have spares.

The Curved Strap if you have the cutouts on your aluminum cradle.

Thanks for the information. My capacitors were glued into the cradle and had some foam tape for the capacitors to rest on.
It doesn't look like I have the slots for the metal straps. I have the new capacitors from White Oak but there was no mounting hardware included with them. I can talk with with oak and see if I can order a set. It sounds like I just need to drill a couple of holes in my cradle?

Here is a pic showing the notch in the transformer where the ends of the strap went. halfway between the transformer bolts.1763337051916.png

If you ordered a new rectifier from White Oak, it will come with a 10-32 screw and nuts for mounting to the cap cradle after taping the hole. This screw will mount either the cap strap or an aluminum plate to hold the caps.

The cap strap is placed between the cap cradle and housing within the slot shown between the bottom mounting holes shown below.

Thanks a lot for the pictures you guys posted. I do have the slots on my capacitor base. I think the easiest thing to do is locate a piece of
aluminum and make a strap.
thanks again
