Working on a PL 4000 preamp. I bypassed the RIAA preamp card with 2 jumpers which converts the PHONO 1 and 2 inputs into LINE inputs, and now use the turntable line outputs (Audio Technica LP-7) instead of the RIAA cartridge preamp.
Looking at the schematic, I also noticed that the TAPE 2 outputs of the 4000 can be switched (TAPE 2/ SOURCE on front panel of 4000) to serve as outputs directly from the source selector switch.
I connected the WOPL to that output, and am now using the 4000 as a passive source selector. It even works with the preamp power off... no volume control, etc. but can still select inputs.
