Look, there has to be a better solution to this.
1. If you have an issue with an item on eBay, take it up with eBay.
2. Can the nomenclature be removed? It was a nice looking product otherwise.
3. The matter of the non-reproduction clause is one for a court of law, not the forums. If anybody would have interest in the matter it would really be the last IP holders, Pioneer.
4. I understand that Perry didn't want any copies made for gain or otherwise. There may well be no premises to make that assertion though. Perry never owned the design of the PL faceplate.
The real remaining issue is that Perry feels betrayed and that Tony should have not added the non-existant nomenclature to a reproduction for a model that was never produced that way. He could make it purple with polka dots if he wanted to, it's the heritage of the product that is causing a rumble.
Yet they also make fake porthole vents for pickups ala Buick.
You shouldn't have to buy that item just to take it off the market, even if it's a matter of extreme pride to you.
This should be a matter for eBay though.
Mistakes were definitely made and the member apologized. He has offered to cease making them. Pursue that avenue, get the final plate out of circulation and let's get back to boring for awhile.
I thank a member who explained it better to me and this was my attempt to offer mediation.
I understand Perry's feelings about this. It should have been handled more externally or with less anger though. Jerry is right, he created this site and it's rules with Larry.
Thank you, Steven
