.....hit the play button on the autos. With Spring appearing I've been spending time out in the barn cleaning up the debris field it became over the winter. Unearthed a couple of the relics and been prepping them for some summer sightseeing. Several trips to the dump and Goodwill drop off gave me some workin' room. Kinda like sittin' in with old friends. Doing some pre-flight work/checkover on them currently. Been so long I can't remember which ride needs what work. Funny thing I noticed during this, every room in the shack is overflowing with audio components but most of the rides are tuneless.......wonder how that occurred.

Included the obligatory pic of the barn stereo.....gotta have the tunes. Helps drown out the vocabulary that tends to fly around out there. Have an big old pair of '80s house party KLH 3 ways and a pair of Bose 301s hanging from the trusses and an old thrift store JBL SW on the floor. No heat out in the barn but everything seems to weather well. The refrigerator still works......checked that out first............ummmm,beer :)

The TR6 is very nice but that Interceptor is freaking GORGEOUS ! ! ! ! Most of those you see are so ragged out. How on earth have you kept yours so pristine?

what year is the silver Type 1? torsion bar or strut?
I was gonna guess '74+. Looks like the shock bumper rear fenders with elephant foot lamps. If my decade old VW fanboy knowledge survives, that started in 1974. I had a '73 which was a one year rear fender, non-shock bumpers with the big round tails.

I need to get on my car stuff too. I really would like to get the spare lower intake for the Lincoln ported so I can swap it and the cam before summer. Need to see if I can ring up the dude that does the intake porting and see if he can take on the job. I've had the cam for like 3 years now, and the intake nearly as long. Its been gathering dust all this time.

God.....sounds like some of my projects.....
well, I did get in touch wth him, and I got a quote that I can live with. Now I need to ship it out and get that underway. He says turnaround is 4-5 business days, so if I get my crap together I might get this done before it gets too hot to want to do this. This will turn into a can of worms though. With more airflow and more cam, I may need larger injectors. At a minimum its probably going to want a tune to run properly. That gets into buying hardware to make the ECM do what I wish for it to do, on and on it goes.

Duuuuude! Imma in Awe!!! U made me leak (not an easy thing)!! That Interceptor is beyond freaking GORGEOUS !! If it's in running order, I'll come up with a bottle of fine single malt scotch and a Cuban cigar, you can sit in a corner of the barn and blow smoke in my face and say "Deal with it!!":hello1: :laughing7::laughing7:

Tell me it's a TT with Ferguson 4 wheel drive and you can have my first born as well!!

Thanks for the kind words guys! I figured there were some gearheads here too,the interests are compatible. Glad to know I'm in good company :) The '75 TR6 is original, including paint. Some period performance modifications, but that's it. Been with me since '84 or so. The '71 Interceptor MK2 I've had for 11 yrs. The majority of that time it spent on jackstands over in the corner of the barn, covered. I'd work on it whenever I suffered masochistic tendencies.......it's a real......swine to work on. No,it's not the Ferguson Formula awd model, unfortunately. Still has the original 383 hipo MOPAR drivetrain tho'.....a RoadRunner for the old f@rt. Probably be selling it off sometime soon, downsizing my life. Getting a bit tired of running the motor pool. Like to spend some time driving 'em instead of wrenching on them.

The '77 VW is special too. One of the last standard model, not super, beetles built in Germany before they shifted production overseas. Bought it non-running,sat for 12 years, from the original owner an old friend of mine. Ca. blue plate car, have all the service records back to the window sticker. No rust anywhere. Got it running, forgotten how boring old standard beetles were to drive so I decided to spice it up a bit. Stripped a bunch of the weight off it to add lightness. Added enough Porsche DNA back into it that the GF christened it the Volks-Carrera. The Koni shocks, fat tires and VDO gauges cost some money but the other parts including the 911 Fuchs alloys,Hella lights and Recaros were scrounged cheap from CL and friends. It's a real hoot to drive. Pretty aggressive looking 60hp :) Still has the original fuel injected engine with almost 200k miles on it. Air cooleds, whether with 2 or 4 wheels, seem to have been a constant thread thru my life.......

Have you got the pedigree papers from VW? I have a '76 std. I'll post the pedigree papers for it later.

Pedigree papers - shows one of 515 imported in Canada.

Mine is a 76 std. Diamond Silver Metallic I'll have to see if I can find a picture when it was on the road.

I've owned it since 1980. Last on the road in 85. Had it in for a repaint and it hasn't been on the road since. It's a long story.....

The first thing I did was rip out the FI engine. I extensively modded things.
Motor has 1030 CFM of Weber on 96 Cu In. I was getting about 12 miles/gal.
Mostly built with Berg parts. CW crank. Berg rods. Berg port and polished manifolds and heads.
Cima jugs and liners. Engle VZ25 lump stick. 10 lb flywheel 1700 lb Kennedy clutch.
Oberg filter thermostatically controlled oil cooler tucked into the left rear wheel well.
Close ratio tranny. Super diff. Adjustable Konis on all corners 19mm sway bars front and rear
Discs up front. It had the optional Sport Bug wider steel wheels on it.

I'm not sure you could call it a pedigree...more like a vehicle ID/mini-build sheet, such as you could find under a seat or somewhere else in a US car.

That's really one of the nicest looking gauge packs I've ever seen on a bug. Definitely prefer the flat dashes over the binnacle style. I can make out most of the gauges but what's the center one in the radio cutout? Thought it was a turbo boost gauge but looks like the numbers wouldn't support that. Overall a VERY well done bug. If that was mine I wouldn't change a thing!!
