You do first class work at a fast pace. That's a valuable skill. Only suggestion I would make is add Big Ass Buss Bars (BABBs) to your builds. They are kind of like icing on the cake.
Fred, you are correct. Those fat assed copper buss bars DO LOOK NICE. Just installed one on my amp and it's great. I had to use 2 soldering Irons but I got it. Pics will be up later on my ROXANNE thread. Thanks for the tip

Paula and Mary

Yes, Perry does do 1st class work and just to add testament, my Christmas present to myself was two fully rebuilt WOPL700B amps from Perry last month. As many of you know, I got into this Phase Linear White Oak club by rebuilding two PL 400 amps this Fall. My original desire was to actually get a 700B but the one I was after on Ebay went for way too much money. So, in a later conversation with Perry, he just happened to have a couple of cherry 700B amps coming to him and although I really only wanted one ( in the beginning) I splurged and decided to have Perry build a pair and hence - the births of Paula and Mary. In addition to the standard 700B WOPL rebuilds, Perry also added new faceplates, premium chassis from White Oak, premium RCA input jacks, IEC power cord jacks, and of course all of the excellent White Oak internal components to complete the whole package. Been listening to both amps for the past several weeks and they are absolutely outstanding. My only "issue" has been the tripping of the house circuit breaker line when I attempted to turn both on at the same time :laughing7:. So, for someone who was wondering if a Phase Linear could even be repaired 3 months ago, I how have 5 adoptions in my audio family ( 2 WOPL400s and 2 WOPL700Bs and a stock 400 waiting in the background). Folks, this stuff is addicting in a good way. Thanks Perry, for your excellent work, and thanks to everyone else who have been so helpful the past year !

Ron - you leave the earth ground open. No more need to flip the AC cord to get the orientation of the AC plug correct.

I hard lined my PL 400 when I returned state side with an IEC AC power cord.

It's good to know this can be done Dennis, the flimsy power cords have always worried me

Damn Dean - those are some beautiful amplifiers - with the full Monty no less. It cracks me up that you came here wanting to repair an amplifier and now you have four fully upgraded Phase Linear amps. :shaking::toothy5: Nice job!

Thanks Dean, I appreciate your kind words. I think you now need a pair of restored Clair's...:toothy5:
Yeah Dean - you need a couple of these beauties! :binky:

Thanks Dennis !

While I am sure that the Clair amps would be nothing less than outstanding as well, I am actually holding out to build a pair of premium chassis WOPL 400 amps ( once Joe gets the premium 400 chassis project completed). I want to go all out and use Joe's chassis, upgraded binding posts, better rca inputs and hopefully an IEC power jack as per the premium 700 chassis. I already have a couple of new series 1 faceplates as well as a couple of 400 series 2 amps ( thanks to Perry) in the wings just waiting for their turn.

On that note, can someone tell me if the 400 series 2 ac wiring for the led display can be adapted to the series 1 White Oak VU Led meter board? I prefer the VU/Led display of the series 1 amps and since the right and left signal and ground connections all come from the White Oak mods, only the 2 ac wires from the transformer are needed. Not having ever traced the series 2 wiring, I assume it also has just 2 ac wires for the display hook-up and these could also be used for the series 1 VU/led meter display.

Or, maybe not ! :???:

Thanks Joe - good to know. So the series 1 and 2 are for the most part the same amps with just the displays different ?
Cosmetics are the only real differences between them. They reduced cost on the Series 2 and modernized the look (LEDs were just becoming sexy).
