Newbie looking for info on WOPLs

Ok, just went out into the garage. Here is the stack of iron. I see a couple that do not have a drilled faceplate. might have to do some meter swapping as some of these say bad meter. Now you can see what I mean about planning on a new faceplate. These are the Aerosmith amps

I like the "flamer" designation on the top amp in the bottom picture LMAO!!!!

Oh thanks for the pics Ron! Very cool. Yes I see what you mean about faceplates but it is part of their history too. Pick a pretty one for me. Should I start looking around for handles?

It wasn't even trouble....not like we know it. And I wasn't being snide. nor patronizing, nor condescending. Would Ma'am have been better?

Nah, I don't feel that old yet! Don't give it another thought- we're here to have fun! Young man!

Still got a few to ship don't we? We've built new storage at Tim's. I have the entire upstairs in his shop. Ship till your sick of it...

I already sent Lee all the handles, extra meters, extra control boards, knobs etc... he's the one to contact for those

I will try to pick a "pretty" one for you but remember, Aerosmith abused these bitches, they are definitely not virgins LMAO

I'll have pics up in a bit of my selection for you

Yeah, there is a few. The hard part is tracking down adequate shipping boxes Lee as we don't drive then van around much except town. I just went through a costly repair that messed up Christmas for us (we don't even have a tree up yet) and I don't trust it yet. I will have a few ready to go next week though

Like always..no hurry...about 5 a week is max for my shipping budget anyway...

An Aerosmith Legacy amp has a cool history. If I could get a hold of a Pink Floyd one...

Nando.

honestly the front fuses don't bother me hugely. They appear to be reasonably evenly spaced, and installed in the same plane as the stock level controls. Its stuff thats all uneven that looks like an obvious hack that I'd personally have issue with.

I honestly don't need a faceplate most of the time. The Pig hasn't had a faceplate for more than a year now. Ed was in a bind so he got the Pig's....

The holes don't bother me because they make these little black plastic caps that snap right in. What bothers me is the rack ears cut or or extra holes drilled. Hard to hide those visuals but hey, these are part of the history of one of the biggest bands of my generation. I can just see the meters flattened to the right as Steven Tyler screams 'swwweeeeettttt eeeeemmmooootion" into the mic

Ok Michele, this is the pick of the litter IMO, no holes drilled for fuses. Has some tape adhesive that needs to be cleaned off the front and a general cleanup period. Meter bezels will need to be touched up or repainted (they are metal)

The wet spots you see on the top was from me wiping dust off the top panel with Windex, it's evaporated now. It's not an issue anyway since one of Joe's new chassis' will be used (I am assuming)

and lit up. This might be usable as it is, says tested at 352w on the left channel, right tested at 341w but DC on output

Again, how it looks now is not what you will end up with even remotely. Joe's custom chassis is beautiful so I would recommend that anyway, not sure what additional cost it is. I would also spring for the new faceplate in the future if I were you unless someone else has a nicer stock one here laying around that is waiting on a new custom one

A friend I just told about buying a PL said expect to have your electric bill triple. True? And I don't mean literally triple but does this amp really make a big noticable difference in your bill? I know someone will say depends on how much it's on but say you have it on in the afternoon listening to the radio while working some days and then 3 or 4 nights a week for a couple hours or so, a party here or there, you know... Is that a legit comment?
