At those voltages, it would even be considered a hot 700.
 
You will have a hard time keeping transistors alive in that with only 3 per side. Not adequate SOA rating if you intend to push it hard.
 
That's what Ed said. The amp it was in could not keep the XPL-909's in it.
 
Sounds like a chassis mod is in order - as Joe said the extra drivers will be needed to handle the output current. What an interesting problem though. I'm visualizing a change...
 
Won't argue with that Joe. What's my limit here?? the max 200 vilt Vce? Or is it current. The 555's ca swing 400 and do 10 amps.
 
It is a combination of both Lee, called SOA. you can only pull something like 400mA at the 200V Vce and that is only for brief periods.
 
As you approach max Vce the max amps drop like the rock eh?? There wasn't SOA curves on the data sheet I have, thanks....

They are like my old Dodge Dart, the factory put in whatever they had left.
 
I'm still not real clear on what exactly a transistor really does.....
