Given that the album is only 53 minutes and is issued on double 180 gram vinyl indicates to me that they have done a high quality pressing and have not compressed the grooves too much, they would also be trying to avoid extreme inner groove play which is a plus as generally after 18 minutes per side you lose a slight amount of fidelity.
 
I don't think Simon does poor quality. His digital stuff is very well done. Can't imagine his vinyl work is not the best it can be..

I was referring to the pink floyd album, and it was a positive comment. It is very good that they have limited the play time of each side to avoid inner groove reduction of fidelity.

I have no doubt that any vinyl released by simon would also be up to standard. Besides since acquiring this new cartridge, the inner grooves sound better than ever. Many bands do make an effort to keep play time per side of vinyl under 18 minutes and use heavy 180 gram pressings, its a good thing.
 
Found this....Interesting:

As you get nearer the center of the record, the groove velocity reduces (in fact the linear speed of the groove is about 1/3 of the speed in the centre that it is at the rim). It's like playing the start of your record at 15ips on tape and slowing it down to 3 3/4 by the end of the side. Basic frequency response is affected, due to the cut waveforms becoming shorter. In the limit, high frequencies become too small to move the stylus. A narrow stylusprofile helps (though not as much as you'd think) as does accurate set-up (any error is more significant at the inner radius). Any friction in the arm will show more at the inner grooves too. Mechanical 'semi auto' features can cause a lot of problems.

I don't know anyone who has seen their favourite band that many times. My friend John is a big Zappa, Gov't Mule, Grateful Dead, etc. fan and he hasn't seen those bands in those numbers. I don't think I've even heard Skynyrd played on the radio that many times...well, maybe "Freebird."

I have seen the Grateful Dead before Jerry died over 100 times since 1977 Nando and they are not even my favorite band

Cheap Trick, REO and Journey I have seen at least 20 times each

Ever seen REO with their first or second singers Ron?

Edit, I should Mike Murphy or Terry Lutrelle. Cronin was technically the second singer and left only to return several years later.

Cadillac. That is just amazing. And I thought I was a Dead Head only seeing them back in the sixties/early seventies maybe
five times tops.

yep its been a few! ive seen charlie daniels and govt mule easily 100 times between then 2 also lol. its ridiculous honestly the amount of shows ive been to. one of these days ill post a pic of stubs.... btw ronnie is drunk as hell in this video and they still kiull it.
 
Jason & Ron: I'm practically a virgin when it comes to hitting the concert trail. Do I wish I went to more concerts? - of course, I do, but I guess that's why I find gratification in at least honouring those bands at home on a decent system. But, in no way are you going to get that same raw feeling amongst a crowd at a live setting compared to dropping a record onto a platter. I salute your dedication.

Just with Kevin. I am a huge fan of REO from High Infidelity and back. Not so much with the Wheels are Turnin' and up
 
Nando, it was fun but the irresponsible way I was living at the time (PARTY PARTY PARTY) ultimately led me to doing 5 years in prison. I don't regret going to the concerts, I just regret the lifestyle I was living that allowed me to go see them because it ended up with me selling drugs and doing time instead of doing things the right way. Now I pay for those times since I did not really get my shit together until I was in my 30s and even then I made poor choices with women for many years that drained my potential. Now I am 50 looking in from the outside
 
Well as for me I wouldn't change my past concerts for the world! But now that I have kids and am not able to go like before I have focused on my home stereo! I've always had one just nvr a nicer system like now! I guess I fill the void with new components!!! It's always something..:toothy5:
 
That's the big difference between us. We were raising four children when we were 32, and had our first child at 22. When financial statisticians estimate what it costs to raise one child to adulthood, never mind four, your best form of entertainment may be VHS movies and a nice T.V..
