Hi everyone. I have been quite active on a couple other forms and just discovered this one. Got into hifi when I was 15 and started working part time at Lafayette Radio Electronics when I was 16 (1970). We sold some good hifi components back in the day. Several manufacturers really took care of us for our personal use. My first decent stereo was a Dynaco SCA-80Q integrated amp (kit), Dynaco A35 speakers, Garrard Zero 100 turntable with a Shure V15 type II improved and TEAC A-1230 RTR deck (still have it and it sounds great). Didn't care much for the turntable so sold it and bought a Thorens TD-160. Now as you can see by my signature (if it shows up) I'm quite into Carver, ReVox and some other stuff. Unfortunately I had to retire from an engineering career due to my battle with cancer but at least I get to listen to music all day. My preferred source is analog, be it vinyl or tape. Also listen to CD's, TIDAL, and FM HD. Prefer jazz and classical along with some classic rock mixed in. I have played trumpet for most of my life but can no longer perform (doctor's orders). I do however play taps for military/veteran funerals and appropriate civic events. In fact I was on the evening news in Pittsburgh on Memorial Day. I am assistant State Director for BuglesAcrossAmerica.org We are an organization of volunteers with the goal to provide live taps for our heroes. Sorry for being so lengthy but you did say not to be shy...and I'm not!

New Blood!! Welcome to your nightmare.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

You're gonna fit in just fine here. Jump into anything you want, the water is fine.

Nav will probably be by soon with a guardian angel. And again, welcome!

That's a captivating intro, Bugler. Are you in remission with your cancer? That's a worthy cause to be donating your time and skill within your organization. Many of us here enjoy our music, from all sorts of genres. It seems you've got a number of good components within your present system. I hope you enjoy your time with us.

Nando.

Thank you Nando. Unfortunately I've never been in remission. It's been almost 5 years now since my initial diagnosis with colon cancer. Then it spread to the pelvis and the most recent is the lungs. 5 major surgeries (the most recent 2/26/15) and many horrible chemos later I'm still kicking. The doctor is giving me a little break from chemo since it makes me so sick but not too long as the cancer is still actively growing and spreading in the lungs. Hopefully no where else. Luckily I haven't smoked since college and that was almost 40 years ago. Sorry for babbling. Like I said in my intro I'm not shy!

A wonderful welcome to Phoenix Bugler! You'll have fun here as we're easy going. Now that I mentioned it I just realized that she's easy too. A Nav welcome babe:

Yes, welcome Bugler. I'm new here too and can say that this is a great place to be.

Welcome Bugler! This is the one and only forum I feel "at home" when posting. Every member here is first class, and we all love music. I am also a musician, still playing drums in a jazz band. I am wholeheartedly behind your efforts to provide live taps...I think it is terrible to hear "canned" brass at a funeral. Welcome to the forum....

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I use a Samsung Android Tablet for most of my forum visits and find I can't open up attachments. I suspect I'm really missing out on something awesome. ie: The Nav welcome wagon girls! Will Android devices not support this?
Thx

Hey bugler, welcome to the forum.

I just checked on my Android phone, and the nav babes are working fine for me. Maybe a software update is needed on your device?

I enjoy the rear spangled glories at home. My 'mobile device' is a Walkman with built in speakers. Only the AM really works which guarantees that if Arbitron sends me a book Oldies 1380 will be up there.

I saw the Fox piece on the Bugle program. Started by an amazing man....and big props and respect to you for your involvement....God Bless ya Bugler!! Oh,,,and welcome to Phoenix....when you open up attachments with your phone they may be offset so scroll left and right to see if it will appear.

So what is the prognosis on the cancer?? You don't have enough time left on earth to be shy....

Hey Bugler - if you're still able come by and say hi! You just might get another Nav welcome girl.

Hello Bugler, welcome and as a cancer survivor (brain tumour 2006) there is always hope buddy. Metasatis cancer is never fun, sounds like your doctor giving you a chemo break is great news, enjoy the tunes. You are in my family and my thoughts and prayers!
