That's what I hear in everything I have been reading. I have a lot to read and learn about them. I also need to get a better understanding about the two basic designs to decide which way to go...
My biggest issue will be the fact that I have champagne tastes on a beer budget, and the fact that though I was a Radar Repairman in the USAF, it has been 40 years since I really worked in the field and I have no test equipment besides a DMM and DBT. I think I can manage the PL14_20 control board but the backplane kit is definitely beyond me...! The full or quasi comp. that is the question!

If you can do the control board you can do the backplane board set. They come with a great instruction set and if you have any issues just ask - no telling what type of answers you'll get but eventually the correct response pops up.

Must be that USB port. Make sure you plug it in right.

Actually, all ports are rotary ..... SO there is no wrong way to plug it

Hey Jim, let me guess, a subdued buzzing on your M1.5T? I love those amps, major balls but they just seem un-serviceable for some things related to the mag coil

No, I gave it a thorough cleaning including opening it up and now it is fine.....? It just gave a hiccup the other day..... sounded like it lost line voltage to it. When it came back about 3-5 seconds later it was distorted in the power hungry passages.

I love having another Thorens man here, especially one with the badass Grace F9 Ruby!!!!

TD 125 MKII/SME owner here, had a F9E Ruby way back...love, love, loved that cart, then the MC movement made me sell to get a AQ404, pluses and minuses to both but, my tapes made with that Grace still haunt me to this day. You have very nice Maggies so you know what I'm talkin' 'bout !!
