i finally conned Dennis (Rat44) into coming over to the new place and taking a few shots for me with the new room and configuration. i'm still fine tuning placement and distances, mostly trying to get the sub in an optimal spot and setting, but the final location of everything else is pretty much dialed in. we took the opportunity to put the system through its paces and had a lot of fun doing it.

this room is a big trade up as the system is placed symmetrically and provides much better listening positions for everyone, but it also has its own issues to overcome, however the net gain in better sound is huge. eventually, i'll introduce some room treatments and upgraded equipment rack(s), but it'll be a fairly wide open time table for those.

a couple of shots for shiggles and gits.

I see Marc Cohn on the center table and Tommy on top of something else (looks like a DVD) but I see no trace of a video screen.

I don't see audio without video in my playlabs. Even my HP widescreen monitor is employed for DVDs and my 1983 Trinitron 17" probably has more screen area. it's not like I am addicted to little video clips, I love CONCERTS.

I've watched Neil Young's American Masters episode in my bedroom on a 13" Sharp with 5.1 audio (and Paul McCartney as well), so it's not the SCREEN SIZE that matters, only that there is a screen if I want one. I don't watch TV in the kitchen or work areas and I listen to a Walkman with two little speakers on it that only really plays AM well so I have the town's oldies station from down the road a bit playing while out on my bike. Or at least until Don Imus comes on in the morning, then I shut it off. I've said it before, I'd rather continue listening to Tommy James.

Harry James.

James Ingram...for Pete's sake.

Don Imus sucks.

the system has always been a music first system and only did HT duty because of the shared space. i've got a 19" hi-def tv on the left side behind the equipment table that lets me make all needed selections for playback via the Oppo. maybe down the road, after the room is properly treated and setup i'll think about putting in a nice projector.

i've got the Moody Blues' quad albums on SACD, but i havent listened to any of them with this setup. i'll take that good advice now that i've heard it.
