I believe I've found the source of this niggling, intermittent issue with my 700B. Since the WOPL conversion, every so often, the right channel would quit and I've had a merry old time finding out why.

But I think I overlooked the obvious.

I have banana plugs soldered onto my speaker wire and it seems after all this time, one plug is too loose in one of the PL's jacks. I noticed a long time ago the banana plugs don't go into the jacks very far but they seemed secure enough to not concern me.

I can cut the plugs off and replace with spades I suppose but dammit, I like my bananas!

So Before I go to the shops and buy some or order from Mouser, is there a size dimension or spec I need to know about?

Since the amp had the Watts Abundant speaker protection board and it bolts onto to the speaker posts, I thought that might dictate what I should get.

They make expandable bananas that are threaded with a center point that extends the 4 center segments for a decent lock..

You know - if you play with your banana it will expand. :shaking:

Really - if you place a small flat blade screw driver between the mating segments of the male jack and pry them up a smidge you can expand the contact region.
Yes, I did that but these plugs are of the uber cheap variety and even after bending, the one still feels a bit sloppy.

I've seen those. Not cheap and I dismissed them as a gimmick for the tweakophiles. Looks like there's some merit to the idea after all.
