Nakamichi DRAGON [brand new]. How much should i sell it?

Hello,
I have a Nakamichi DRAGON. My father bought it once but i never used it. It is in its original box and wrappings. I wanna sell it but i don't know how much. Any suggestions? Is anyone interested?

Hi possum, welcome to the forums :wave: , you ask a Q that has many answers, if it wasn't getting much use, it would obviously need a good going over by a tech, we have some here on the site, this will not be cheap, the box and manual are just a bonus. This is a very complicated machine that needs to be in proper spec to get top dollar.

If the cosmetics are first rate and it just needs a re-furb, you'd be best off putting it up on ebay with some killer pics to show it's major selling point, no marks, nicks etc...get the bidders going beyond what it's really worth in real dollars. I say this not as a hater, I just think the Dragon is waaaay overrated as the best there is, and that fools pay $1,500 for a deck that needs another couple hundred to bring it back to factory or better spec. It's a show piece to brag about....It's a Freakin' Dragon !!!

I'm probably pissing ya and other Nak lovers off, but several members and friends here have very nice decks that can sound amazing with the right tape and in the right system...Braxus with his Tanberg and super sweet TOL Awia and Elitest with his Esoteric (both up in Canada), I'll put my big Teac V-8000s in there as well, when it's not eating pricey MA-XG tapes for a snack (it needs some help, all these old complicated decks usually do).

Anyhoo, Nakdoc will chime in, he knows these rigs.

Have you tried using it. It really needs to be run to see if it is still functional. There should be plenty of interest even if needs work to get it going again.
 
Almost new Dragons sell well on eBay if the copy you write is convincing enough, for as high as $1200. But the reality is most educated Nakamichi buyers know that eBay descriptions are filled with ignorant babble, and discount the price accordingly. A non-working Dragon can sell for $450. I've said that the factory boxes alone add $80 to the deck's value, simply because the deck will survive shipping. To get top dollar, test it thoroughly yourself, or, send it to me or Perry or Willy Herman for maintenance. Once you get a "clean" bill of health from a Dragon tech, you'll get at least $800 on eBay.
 
before selling it. you should know how many potential buyers do you have. You have to make sure that price of that product is not that expensive.
 
$1.69 and you get exclusive repair rights for a lifetime.

You'll make more.
