12 years ago I've made a file with a fragment of a well known music (direct download link, otherwise the file is listed on the Library page of my website) recorded with +/-2LSB only (RMS level about -91dBFS, ~0.6Mb size) - for checking low level capabilities of various audio DACs. On a decent DAC you can hear the music and recognise the words of the song if you boost the volume enough. .

Cheers

Alex
That makes my -61dB seem fairly loud, but what is a "femtoamp"?

Fascinating. I guess my motherboard based sound device isn't junk after all. My ambient noise level is quite high so I couldn't make out anything in the vocal region of the spectrum but the bass line was eerily familiar. Then I gained it up 20 db and could barely make out McCartney's' voice...

'When I'm Sixty Four'

Thanks for sharing that Alex!
