I'm thinkin black would be a nice contrast. I hace some black knobs that may go well with it also, Kenny may well end up with a one-of-a-kind 3300.

Yes Nav, the skinny pushbuttons......and that would be a godsend, thanks....

DAMHIKT?????

Kenny, the 3300 Ser II by far in their native state. Look at my album, all PL stuff is in there somewhere. The 2000 SerI is on top of the rack, the 2000 serII is to the right of the rack. as Mark has said, the 3300 used modern op-amps that are upgradeable as to the Ser I op's , haven't had much luck replacing the RC 4136 with anything yet, although Joe and I were getting close one time. Price??Dude i won't hold ya up. 200.00 or les decked out an re-capped, de-oxitd, op-amps upgraded, and tested like no other. We just gotta get Nav to build us some PB's.
Sounds sweet. I like the look together. What do you think about doing some research to see about protection circuit for the 250. It gets the same bad rap as the PL400 because of it. Funny thing the matching pre-amp for it is Marantz 3300 which is my current pre-amp. So I'm gonna have a PL3300 and a Marantz 3300. Im hyped.

If it doesn't have one I've put some in other amps. AmpsLabs makes a universal type. Should't be a problem...

Gonna try to bid on a PL5000 tuner. So if I get the 3300 from ya, I'll have the 400, 3300, 5000. What else should I try finding. Shooting for complete PL system. Have lots to learn. For instance the PL1000 noise reducer , whats it for and should I try to aquire one. Is the 7000 cassette deck any good or the 8000 TT. Not opposed to use different TT and Cassette with the system. I like putting the complete systems together. The Marantz 250 will complete my Marantz system. When I get it, we'll take a look at doing the dc protection, etc.

Would you like a Carver tuner?

The 7000 cassette deck is supposed to be the CTF-1000? Pioneer deck. The 8000 TT is a Pioneer 1000 linear tracking TT.

The PL 1000 does some interesting things. Originally meant to cancel TT rumble an clicks, it can do more than that. Last count I had 8 of them, so no need to buy one.....

Cassette deck ought to be pretty decent then. Was there some connection between Pioneer and Bob? Think I'll go with different TT. I might use the Accutrack 4000 I have.

Pioneer had bought Phase Linear before the Jensen deal. Hence the same outputs in the 300 Ser II as in the SX 1980.

As usual, I'm late to the party. A few observations:

1. The problem with the 4000 was the mother board had round holes for the square peg pins on all of the connectors. At that time PCB's with plated through holes were not available. Consequently you can expect to find at least 100 cracked solder joints on a 4000. About 10 years ago I spent hours and hours on all of the cracked joints and replacing the broken RCA jacks and it still had an intermittent problem. Finally I threw in the towel and the owner sent it to ED. Ed found am intermittent/cracked tone control pot.

2. The 2000 is a modifiers dream with plenty of space to work with. For years I've wanted to modify the ambiance circuit into a summed low pass crossover for subs. A few years back I looked at opamp replacements. See this link I started. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/100740-preamp-opamp-upgrade.html. Brown dog has interesting options. http://cimarrontechnology.com/single-to-dualop-ampadapterpn020302.aspx

There are alternatives, the 4739 is just a dual OPAMP. The problem is the obsolete pin-out so it will not drop into a 14-pin DIP socket. You have to bend the pins and rewire the board to make the more standardized 4739 replacement chip work. I tried Aceffects a few months ago, they told me there were no more of the custom chips.

does anybody know if Aceffects will make an adaptor board? Brown Dog says they can do it for $150-$300.
