Johan's Phase Linear 700B Fully Comp Conversion

You said not to mess with the switch and I said I had one laying around, soooo, that was my decision.....all my time is not charged for Johan....especially education time...It'll still be under 1000.00

i ll bring you back some good belgian beers to try out...thanks a lot...looks very very nice....did you do a watt metering ?...curious where it stands..take care...

Johan, do you push your 700's?? And like any other member of Phoenix, if this amp is not thrown 5 miles by a tornado, it's guaranreed for my lifetime...

I've had the opportunity of running a 50K system to test with an analyser and some pink noise, and I taught myself the difference between how loud it can get, and wot it sounds like.
I started at 100dB, and worked my way up in lots of 10dB, and the most I could manage was 146dB before I blew the 3 phase power supplying the PA. (happened every time.)

Anyway, if you were pumping out 130dB plus, out of just one pair of K's, they would've caught fire.

I like to get some electrons through them first then we run the final tests on the AP and a printed , bound test book will accompany the amp home...from the way it sounds today it's gonna be north of 475 into 8.....

I set my DB meter in the masters chair, both K's on tap. I can get 112db with a 400. They do get warm, but they don't burn...

BD, I have a dedicated 60 amp circuit feeding the rack..

…. and i just realised, you weren't running pink noise.
much easier to hit peaks while just playing music, and so yeh i guess you could do it (sort of).

yes i kind of push them....within the limits of my neighboors calling the cops....which happens every 3 months or so...need to change my front windows...bass is making them rattle....now they will break.....lol...
lets say i push them once a month.....at like 1 in the morning.....not my fault....its the tequila that moves the volume knob up...lol...

lee....maybe a stupid question.....but is damping factor changed also with this mod..?...or same...

Joe should create a nice logo sticker....like a nice thick aluminum sticky plate.....to "sign"the mod....like AMG for mercedes.....would be nice ....

Damping factor is still 1,000 to 1 at 1khz.
