It appears the original, factory bypass cap on the factory, original BR went nuklar, and shorted out the AC mains fuse. Said bypass cap also vented on the pristine LED board. I desoldered the BR and checked, not shorted or open.

Now both of these items I usually change out during an upgrade....why i didn't on this one I don't know, Sooo........the warranty will be honored....Johan...split shipping and we're good.

Going back with a new 50 amp BR, bypassed with .01uf/400volt polypros.....

New Br in and soldered back up. Time for caps and power up....

Powered up fine with no rail fuses, added rail fuses and we're good to go. Johan , I'll shake it down this weekend and get it out Monday morning...

So.....it appears a cap can go to short and open right after taking out the AC mains fuse.....that's quite the series of events....

That almost sounded petulant.....not intended that way...
 
Hey I'm reading Mr. Laatsch! BTW, why do your amps LED's always look so much whiter than mine? And I got the white Boards? Maybe it's the lighting, but I kind of like that look. Mine are more a blue-ish hue..........
 
Probably because I have a 300 watt incandescent in the middle of the basement and 2-150 watt quartz over the bench, so it's pretty bright down here....
 
If anybody else has Moby---"Play" ......does track 4 make ya leak??
 
Nothing out of the ordinary.......it's just that the first few notes of that song and I start to tear up.....powerful stuff....
 
Well.....it does have the closest thing to a brown note I've heard......just wait, you'll be in the master's chair soon....
