Is This A Good Solar Panel Controller??

Tim found this controller with the solar panels we found the other day. Tim wants to maintain batteries over winter for his summer toys. Is anyone familiar enough with these types to know if it would make a good battery maintainer?? It was used to keep batteries charged in the middle of nowhere in the oilfield for a small monitoir station...

Discontinued 5A charger, depends on what it was running and what is meant by TOYS.

You may find enough information on their site to guide you and find others should it prove inadequate.

Lead acid batteries die by sulphation.

Anti-sulphation maintainers are needed.

"solargizers" have a proven record of success. Solar cells make them expensive.

there are "ac solargizers (735x250)" that dispense with the solar cells. They don't charge, just prevent sulphation.


made by pulsetech inc - pulsetech.net but the ac units don't show up in their website.
The rest of the data, studies, surveys, testimonials etc are on it.

If you get serious about it, we will need to talk, about the # of batteries, what other chargers you have, how far apart the batteries will be and so forth.

I ran some wires from it into the house got some led lamps so now I have plenty of emergency lighting and can run any 12V accessory,,, now I just need to figure how to get water out of my well without power

I don't know if you've ever seen this guy's Youtube channel. Apparently he's a civil engineer and has a LOT of videos on solar power systems, water systems, etc. Really good videos!! There's one in there for a DC powered well pump (pulls a lot of DC!) Fun stuff to watch and amazing what can be done provided the money doesn't run out. He's located in the NW corner of S.C. up near the mountains.
