I'm very curious about any tech item
Today , after many tests , I have replaced the original leds with warm leds ( 2700 k °)
To avoid shadows I have used sand paper # 240 on the case of leds to make them opaline .
There are only two little shadows due to the 2 screws of the instrument .
The result is enough close to original nut bulbs .
In case you want change color ( green , blue , amber , etc .)
I suggest , after making leds opaline and starting from original white leds , to paint them
with glass paint or trasparent paint ( Tamiya colors are good ) .
I hope this method would be useful for everyone .

Dayam Marco!! Gotta post some pics of that!! Never thought of actually sanding the LED's themselves....

Here is a pic ( the best I could do )
Next week I will try to do something better .

P.S: the green shadows are due to the poor quality of the pic.
Anyway it's possible to understand that the diffusion of VUs light is steady .

I would add that in one VU the internal white strip was not properly fitted
and there was a little shadow.
Check also if the alu panel of VU is clear .
In my unit there were some traces of smoke due to old nut bulbs .
I suggest to clean the transparent case with lcd display cleaner
and spray paint the alu frames of VUs. ( matt black , of course )
Anyway I think it's a very simple and cheap method to improve the Wopl kit
and also you can change the color according your personal taste .
I prefer warm white because it's very similar to the original design .
Ciao
Marco
