I need the Member's Opinion!

Are you a priest? You are wearing a Roman Collar unless you are kidding and pulling off that guy that was on Saturday Night Live.I forget his name but he actually appeared in the Vatican Square and was thrown out by the Swiss Guard when he admitted he wasn't a priest.

Freakin' Priceless...:blob2::mrgreen::blob2:

Welcome Jazzy!!!

He finally sent me photos but they can't be put on the forum. They are invalid. The front looks stained!

Can you do a screen grab of the images and post them? Although if you don't feel good about the deck I would say you did good to pass on it.

How do I do that with a Mac? I have Snow Leopard as My OS. I will try anyway.

OK I did a screen Grab.I will try to attach them Couldn't attach!

They are .tiff files that GRAB made. But I couldn't attach them using our attachment manager as they were invalid and I tried to post them through Drag And Drop but it just pointed to the place where they were.

Convert them to GIF or JPEG. TIFF is not supported by the software here. You CAN post PDF, which can be made from TIFF and if you have Photoshop it can be done simply and attached.

You probably already figured it out, but pressing the apple, shift, and 4 keys will let you outline something to grab. From there open the screen grab file with preview and then do a file save as and choose Jpeg from the format options.

OK Here it goes These are the photos he sent!

I see a stain in the upper right corner that permeates and repeats in other parts of the deck. The heads shot is worthless.

Try THIS...

If you don't have it you might consider Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

I only adjusted the brightness and contrast then cropped it. Nando could probably do a lot better than that.

I don't have photoshop as I have no use for it. I don't do any photography any more. I also hate mirrors (like a Vampire):evil5:

To hard to see the heads and I enlarged it like Orange did, but the one thing I noticed is both pinch rollers look to be in pretty sad shape. The right hand one looks glazed over like the rubber is hardened an the left one appears to be crumbling on the edge.

I don't see the stain you are referring to but I did notice the wood case doesn't fit very well like the deck has been dropped. Look at the upper right hand corner and the face plate isn't parallel to the wood case, it kind of sticks out.

All this may be nick picking, but I think if I were going to pay that much for a deck I would pay a little more and buy it from someone I know I could trust to have gone through it.

I'd say you were correct to pass on this one.

ThankYou!!! That definitely is the end of my quest for a 1250 from this seller. He is obviously a liar when he says it is so wonderful. No wonder no one has bid on this one.

It may well have new belts and an idler tire and the transport may function just fine. As I said about the rollers, my decks are all used and I don't know how old the rollers are, but mine appear to be in better shape then the ones in his pictures.

Wit h a 35 year old deck you can expect to have some problems unless it has been fully serviced. After all the motors develop dead spots and either slow down or stop. The pinch rollers might need replacing and no doubt unless someone has already checked the electronics my be out of whack after this long.

I don't know the going price for a fully service Pioneer 1250 but his prices seems low to me for a fully serviced deck, on the other hand his price is probably ok for a fully functioning deck with ok cosmetics and new belts and idler tires.

You have to decide what you want out of this sort of deck? I only own the ones I have because they match my silver faced Pioneer system, I don't use them for any recording and only infrequent casual playback. If you want a deck like this to be fully serviced and functional to it's best, my guess is you will spend more like 700+. An then the thing is like an old car, things will probably go wrong with it since everything is old and no longer available. If you want a superb recording deck and playback deck then I would look for either a fully serviced one from someone you can trust or a 1990's deck which would probably be a lot more reliable.

Just my two cents here.

I understand,I have a Tascam 122 and a Tascam122 MarkIII and a Teac A-800 but they are working fine . But I'm sure they will have problems I have a NAK Dragon and it already has problems in calibration but I use it to play my 600 tapes. So I anticipate the problems you describe. I really liked the 1250 it has "sex appeal".
