Hmmm.

What about comparing no-load, no-input bias voltages between the two sides? It would seem that the bad side has something in there that is saturating, perhaps because it's biased higher than normal/correct? Like maybe one of those diodes that shift voltages up or down .7 volts at a time... ?

(me first foray into the yammies, so forgive if I sound a little "duh" )

Usually pretty dependable.There used for small signal switching.No current to speak of.Although it did look like someone before me had all three of them pulled out at one time.At first I thought who-ever had reinstalled one ass-backwards. The little metal tins covering them were all loose enough to pull off each relay with no effort.

At least they had a tin hat , the Spec relay is an open winding with a paper cover(as you know).

Another play on my simulator proved the following scenario. The difference between the two schemes is the lack of a capacitor C5 in the second scheme in which the second scheme of non-switching/Yamaha's Hyperbolic Conversion Amplification / switches to class B. Initial current of both schemes is identical.

It is clear that options class B / pic 2 /, the values ??of the odd harmonics are lower.

In / pic 1 / shows what is gained from Non-switching options. Almost nothing.

My question is why yamaha have pushed and complicated scheme, further complicated innards, it is worse / according to the simulator /, is it just a marketing strategy / although it is nowhere specified that the amplifier is Non-switching / the whole thing or just the simulator is not allowed to show the real things that really happen?

Whether these "crossover distortion", which is avoided by Non-switching options are included in the harmonic spectrum?[attachment=1:2v5zl0r3]pic 1.PNG[/attachment:2v5zl0r3]

I think the Yammies had some hyperbol in the ads for that curcuitry but, I have to say it's one of the nicer amps I've heard, very neutral, awesome power and current when I had the Martin Logan's in da house. I'm speaking of my MX-800U btw. Welcome to our forums
