Copper and silver will both corrode. Which increases resistance. The table of least resistance is Silver, copper, gold and aluminum. You are putting in conjectures you don't know to be true. Why would I go with a smaller diameter wire? Not so in a lot of things I do. If I am going to run a 15 amp. I will still use the same gauge in copper or silver. Why would I make the lengths different? I am going to go the shortest route either way. So I use silver because I also want the most efficiency. I'm not going to debate on what is best or if wires make a difference. Copper silver that's your choice. I'm not saying use silver. I am just saying why I do. I don't know of any metal that doesn't corrode. Some corrode faster than others in certain elements. With resistance you create heat. That is just my theory. As far as solder I do not know what you mean by wet. I know why I use it.

Larry (this is addressed to you, you can tell because your name is here),
My last post was not addressed to anyone in particular. I used the term "you" and "yours" collectively. Your previous post stated that "you were just giving your thoughts" I was writing my last post with that in mind too.

I apologize if I said something to offend you, that was not my purpose. I did not mean to imply that you would use a certain gauge of silver wire. I have no idea of what gauge you would use. I do know however, that pure silver wire is "normally" sold in fine gauges in the range of 26-20 ga. Whereas copper is often sold in heavier gauges such as 20-14 for hook-ups, power, and interconnects. This was just my experience, not stated as absolute fact.

It is true that silver is the better conductor, almost everyone knows that. I was pointing out that if you had a pound of 18 ga. copper wire and a pound of 18 ga. silver wire and passed electrons through them, the copper would have the lower resistance. That is an absolute fact.

The silver in the solder helps to make the solder flow more easily and cling to the metal as if the solder was wetting the metal as water would.

So, again, I am sorry. No insults or attributions intended.

Wow. I wasn't really addressing you because I was upset. I just talk that way. It is me. That is all. I'm sorry I missed this post. Thank you for telling me what wet is. I really didn't know. I think I will do . See what happens.a test. I have been buying OFC with silver coated. I have some copper and pure silver. Just to see. Something for me to do. LOL
