Analog rules: Use vintage equipment!
Being around home audio since back in 1975 as a teenager I was always going with my Father to all the High End audio stores. My Dad was looking into buying a really nice setup back in 1982 and I went with him as he listened to all the various equipment he was interested in.

I just drooled over the Carver C-1 preamp he bought and recall listening the very first option that made 2 speakers placed in the correct position have unreal sound stage and hear individual sounds an vocals coming from various places in the room and even outside the walls! It didn't sound great with all music but it was very inventive as an optional sound change with some music. That was the genius of Bob Carver. He realized back in the late 70's that stereo had many limitations and thus invented "Sonic Holography"

I have already read comments that other readers have left making fun of this inventive concept developed by Bob Carver, and my personal opinion is that these individuals just like to hate on some audio equipment because it was a little cheaper than the"SUPER HIGH END WAY OVER THE TOP EQUIPMET!" Sorry but I saw a CD transport being sold on Ebay for $10,000 ad it was used! For myself, I'm all about the performance/price variable, and use this to get the most audio bang for the money I spend. I usually buy discontinued speaker models like my current Definitive Technology Studio Monitor 450's that I were able to purchase at a 50% savings!

I also don't bother to spend $1,000 on a CD player that 99% of the people in the music world, in a blind A-B comparison can't tell which is the $1,000 player or the $199 Onkyo 7030! Then there are those massive turntables. Most priced in the $2,000 to $20,000 that once again during a blind A-B comparison they can't really tell he difference between this $2,000 turntable and a $180 vintage Pioneer PL-7 from 1981.

My point is not to bash others. It is however, my point to not get bashed,or made fun of for my love of vintage audiogear that although vary dated , if properly taken care of can allow a guy like myself to get some great sounding and looking components that other wise I would never be able to purchase.

So to sum it all up. Please don't hate on people like myself that have a wide variety of music that they enjoy (RAP DOES NOT COUNT) :) I'm willing to accept advice and also help out others if they ask. Steven Level

Welcome aboard!! You will be right at home with this crazy bunch!! It's all fun and not all the rules. Gets a little crazy but so does the world!!!!

It's great to have you join our forum. You won't find any of that audio snobbery, here. In fact, most of us revel in the idea of unseating the expensive fat cats (esoteric components) from their high perch with something more domestic. You will have to fill us in with details later on of what you are running for gear.

Nando.

You are welcome, regardless of what type of equipment you own. If you like the sound of it that is all that matters.

No corksniffers her Bud, it's the sound that matters, if it sounds right to you it is right!!We don't bash (ok, wee do bash, but not until we know ya and it's all in fun) . You have stumbled upon a collection of some of the best folks on the internet, we're a lot of fun too(once ya get to know us). If a statement seems peckish or derogotory, look at it again in a sarcastic or humorous bent and of it still feels personal then you can go postal..
Seriously, there is not one person on this board that would intentionally slight or deride you, unless you're a liberal....see what I mean we just can't help it!!

Welcome to Phoenix!

Hate on a guy for what he listens too?? I go from Patsy Cline to Shpongle, all at Mach 8....

Another computer tech......that's a good thing....been lutking long or just stumble on us?? I ask because to understand some of the stuff that goes on around here you have to have been there so when it's expaination time I know how far to go...

You'll fit right in. Those are shared thoughts with most of the communty here. We all have our sonic predjudices, the fun part is to learn about what's out there and meet other who share the experience

There is some sick hardware on this site from many manufacturers, welcome aboard and enjoy the ride

I am getting a Carver C1 recapped and BillD modded very soon myself, great classic preamp
