Broken beyond repair but highly affable
#21
i sent him a pm yesterday. havent heard back yet. i will wait until its in my hands to order parts though so no rush.

the speaks are mentioned above and im not sure yet on a pre. i have an sa-8100 im going to use the pre out of at first but i really want to find a nice pre to mate with it. ive been looking for something with a phono section and a remote control. harder than you would think to find...
I have a TX-9100 and it's my favorite analog tuner but getting the SA-9100 is not cheap and they are all sorta broken at the moment on eBay.

I am the lunatic with all the Pioneer vintage cassette decks allowed by law (mostly busted but I'm getting there), or at least in my neck of the woods.

Nice to see you join our forum, Moe. Good thing you dabble in repairs, because it's getting harder to find techs willing to work on all the old stuff, anymore.

thanks again for the warm welcome guys

stuwee: i actually just sold a set of martin logan prefaces i bought locally from a logan employee. they were very nice speakers

orange: im a pioneer nut as well. i currently have an sx 450,750,950,1250,and 1280. also have the sa8100 paired with a tx-7100 at work. the only pioneer deck i have is a ct-f500. also have a pair of hpm-100's. im trying to branch out a little :toothy5:

sounds like a few people here may use the acurus. must not be as many die hard vinyl guys as on ak. my wife informed me we will not be getting rid of the turntable (even though we hardly ever use it). i never knew she even cared.

the wopl build may throw me a couple curves. i'll be the first to say im no electrical expert. i just have decent tools, know how to solder, and know how to listen and read directions. i feel pretty confident in my abilities tough. its the circuit modifications that get e little over my head at times.

just spoke to the seller. the 400 is shipping out monday. to keep me occupied i found a dynaco st-70 for $200 at a garage sale. always wanted one to play with. should be neat. im going to pick it up now (he had to grab it out of storage). he also had an st-35 but i dont need them both.

Don't be under the impression there are only a few vinyl addicts here, many hard core. There are many phono pre's that pair well with the Acurus. Kudos to your wife for wanting to keep the TT!

Hello Morgan, the Acurus fans here love vinyl as well, they just have a phono pre to get in the groove! I was tempted to get one, but, being the rebel that I am, I bought a Sumo instead. I can't wait to hear what our esteemed leader Lee thinks about it next year :happy2:

I'd like to see a shootout of the best pre's for a WOPL but I think we have them covered pretty well here!!! Freakin' world is too big but if any New Englander's want to try to get together, I am in. Dan brought his pre's down recently. He brought two; a recapped Holman APT1 which bested his utilitarian NAD to my ears using the Clair Bros WOPL1000 and spinning discs with the Technics 1200mkII/Ortofon MC20 Super II combo
