That just might be something I would take a look at... LOL.. I'd say shipping would be more than the boxes...

Please do relate more about them. I'm not familiar enought about them but I like building speakers and even though I'm flat broke I like seeing these things.

yeah, shipping would be problematic. i'm thinking they might be a kit, possibly Speakerlab cabinets, but i have no further info yet.

my daughter is in a medical imaging equipment tech class and the cabs belong to one of the instructors. here is her original email;
my teacher Art wants to know if you want some K Horn speaker boxes.. He has 4 of them
i was assuming they were without drivers, but who knows? this is the latest info from her;
I'm assuming they are assembled correctly cause it was a project he oversaw in the class a few semesters ago. And he said he used to own some K horns that were so massive and powerful (up to 180db) that when he and his wife started building their house, they redid the blueprints to accommodate them and make a room without windows to get the acoustics right
i've asked her to verify if they are Klipsch, a kit or whatever and if any drivers are present.

Scott, after hearing some Klipsch K's again this weekend, I'm leaning towards the Speakerlab cabs........

What size woofers are used, 12" or 15"?

Lee,

Are you saying you like the Speakerlab cabinets better than the originals?

Yes Doug. With the addition of the Crites 1526C woof the bass is tighter , more accurate and the FR goes lower. All subjective with no measurements taken what so ever, but that's my take on it. Skratch has been converting the Speakerlab K plans I had to 3/4 Baltic Birch and Mark says the moitorboard cutout is different for the Klipsch K's. I would think that would be a floating dimension depending on driver selection. The 3 sets of K's I heard this weekend were some 1963 models, some 1974's and ser #'s 214, 217. The bass does not rip my attention away like mine do. And he had plenty of electronics to do it.

The L/R system has that sound. I can vibrate the floor. It is still not boomy. The bass is just there equal. Everything is proportional. Today listening with SP hooked up. There were sounds I hadn't heard before. Hearing the foot cymbals close up. Was kinda cool. These are CDs I know. Hearing the new sounds sort of spoils listening to the other systems.

Funny you should say that, We have listenedto Shpongle-"Remix" at least 100 times, had it on last night and was having supper upstairs for a change and noticed a bass note that I hadn't before. It startsa out as one and then is rolled into 2 separate, it was rather cool.

Isn't that great without any cosmic debris?

It is like wow where did that come from. Was in the garage listening got to a point in the song which usually grabs my attention and it was not even a hint of it coming through the speakers. I can't say it is the best system I have heard. I can't say it isn't either. If it was I wouldn't be trying to improve it. I can say it is the most well rounded that I have heard in a very long time. Now to fix the phono part of it.
