I know Joe, he is a super humble guy and one helluva guitarist, he was Steve Vai's teacher. I do not know his second guitarist, I have not seen to Joe in at least 10 years live but do correspond with him on another board that we both belong to

Clapton plays with feeling and soul, he coaxes emotion from his guitar and the sounds he gets come from his heart. Malmsteen is a technical player with incredible hand coordination but there is no feeling, no sense that he believes in what he is playing. A good friend once told me that guitar players either play for themselves or they play for their listeners. You listen to the clips and tell me who is showing off and who is communicating with the audience through the music. YMMV.
