Here's a sweet deal:

http://www.frys.com/product/7726278?site=sa:adpages page:P38_MON date:033114

Less than a "C" note for 2 TB, on what is marketed as a "Network" ready drive.
That's a killer price. Free shipping too! (no tax for most States)

So what makes a "Network" drive so good? Well, what all that marketing mumbo-jumbo is telling you is
that the drive is rated as highly reliable for 24/7 operation in a server or network attached storage box.
Put one of these in your desktop computer as a D: drive or better yet, two of them as a raid (mirror) set
[if your motherboard supports that...] and you have a completely fail-safe option for storing a sh!t load
of stuff.

Not too long ago, 90 bucks would get you only a 750 GB or a 1 TB drive - and most likely only a bare drive in a bag from Newegg or some other distribution channel seller.
Bare drives are typically a risky proposition as they could have very well been a test-bed "demonstration" drive or one that was de-rated during the mfg process.

This is a retail kit (packaged) drive.

So...after you add your Children of Bodom collection and your secret stash of the late, great Stig Anderson's ABBA masters, what else are you gonna throw on that puppy?

External time...

So you have a butt-load of stuff you've accumulated over the years that you want backed up somewhere off-board or externally?
Personally I don't know a single soul that has terabytes of data needing to be backed up, but what-the-hey, never hurts to be prepared. :rabbit:
And a generally unspoken rule of thumb for hard drives is this; the bigger the space the faster it is to get at the smaller bytes (bites!).

Pretty inexpensive for the amount of storage space offered:

The 2TB and 3TB price points are pretty attractive too!

Fry's is doing it again on Western Digital *desktop* sized hard drives.
Sale ends today & free shipping + no sales tax for some.
Three different *large* TB capacity drives for well under a C-note! :rabbit:

It's a good time to buy a pair, raid them up and be done with worrying about losing data...

I believe I do have one of those WD 320 GB drives...another one would be very nice...I have no issues with mine and it's on this Dell that will someday be an AV jukebox right NOW.

PS Yesterday I got another automatic update from Microsoft...apparently they are still doing a few and sending the Malicious Software Removal Tool every month to XP users.

I'm going to check out the 120 GB Maxtor DiamondMax that was below the WD800 when it blew it's nose.

How do they do that?? Is memory really getting that cheap or are they dumping junk?
