Was the second picture hint that gave it away for me.
I thought for sure you, out of everyone, would get it right off. Nando too.

Had I picked any one of the other faces, it was would have been a dead give away for a bunch of folks.
I avoided the lettering and any hint of polished-waviness on the first shot because those are widely recognized.

I was expecting something more popular that I had heard of. I don't think I have ever seen that album cover or even heard of that album. definitely not my taste in music. Oh well.

Youve never heard Smoke On The Water, or Highway Star?

John: You can never reveal a public sign of musical-knowledge-weakness (MKW) with this crowd.

To be honest Nando, I would be surprised if he hasnt. Smoke On The Water, seems like its just one of those tunes everyone has heard. Forgive my ignorance, if that's not the case. ;-)

I am giving John a semi-hard time because although he has assuredly heard that famous over-played song, he just didn't know which album it came from. He was a little gaffer probably going into middle school when that song first came out.

Yes I have heard of Smoke on the water and Tokyo. IIRC Smoke came out when I was in the 6th grade. I didn't start buying albums till I was like 14 or 15. Before that I just listened to Radio top 40. I was never into hard rock, metal or heavy metal at any age so the only songs from those genres I listened to were cross over songs.

I was always more of a pop, soft rock, blues, jazz and classical listener. Give me the Beatles, Monkees, Beach Boys etc and throw Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Ozzy under the bus so to speak. :toothy5:

Since I didn't like much of their music consequently I didn't buy their albums nor even look at them in the stores. So I can't rightly say I have ever seen that DP cover in person.
