It's nice when it's close to home. If I know you well, I would imagine it might be an opportunity for you to close a deal, based on common interests in Klipsch classics. He has got to be running a nice system, unless the speakers were handed down from a relative.

Nando.

I sold a set of those once, unfinished. You can't get them that way now as they are mdf I believe. He bought another pair, used, and double stacked them....

Make him an offer....I'd say about $2,500 would buy them, and these have new drivers in them. I'd say they sound amazing...but probably still not KHorn killers...or even equals...Skratch would know. He has A-7's and has experienced Lee's speakers..

If you keep your eyes open, you will find a nice pair in the 1500 dollar range eventually. The thing is going to pick them up. Gotta find a pair close...Course I have a couple of pairs I'd sell in that range...I'd sell the ones I have in my den now for $1500...That is what I paid for them..

What do you all think about these? Downfacing drivers? I don't know that I like that, but this might be a chance to buy a set of nice LaScala enclosures...

I'd say the LaScalla's are over priced for what ya get and those A7's are way up there also in my opinion. It's the older ones that bring the money.

Frankly speaking, in my experience a sub will be needed with either pair and if you need a sub then your speakers are lacking somewhere, again, my opinion

Thanks Lee. I leave for vacation in St. Augustine on Tuesday, so I could pick them up...and leave them at the house there til my nexxt trip when I have no passengers and bring them back to VA then.. Do you think the "downfacing" woofer is a problem, or can they be retrofitted to take the woofer where it should be? If I can pick them up at the right price, it would save building cabs....and buying all that ply.. I think they would be worth picking up for under $200.00 ? What do you think??

How much difference is there between Al's crossover design and that of Bob Crites? I see a pair of Bob's on eBay here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-La-Scal ... 231f3e0660

How do Aal's compare in price and performance, if anyone knows? Just exploring the Klipsh speaker again. I probably am not going to be happy until I have a pair of Klipsh inspired speakers with the waveguide Crites woofers in them...Just saying....and the enclosures are in the town I will be vacationing in....in just three more days... Is that fate telling me something?

the Crites coossover is a copy of the original Klipsc design.Al's is new from the ground up and there is no comparison, hands down Al's is superior in every way. One of Al's design objectives is to make sure the amp sees a stable load, not something others even consider. Order the kits, very easy to build and saves a couple hundred. 339. aint bad for a pair of world class crossovers.
