Hi All

I'm completely new here as you can see.. Literally joined because my TA1150 also blows 2 internal fuses, without fail on power on. Unlike the OP 62vauxhall it blows the 2 x 4AT fuses, the 2 x 1.6AT fuses are fine. I'm not a hi-fi repair type but can solder well enough and know how to heat sink etc and can use a multi-meter. I have the service manual and cct diagram, no steps to troubleshoot yet but just wondering if anybody has any previous on the same ? I'll likely try and find somebody near to me in the UK but in the unlikely event this is an easy fix etc etc... Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.. Paul

Yes, I have the service manual and schematic. Not great print but I couldn't even get started as the 2 fuses in question (F6 and F7 from the parts list) couldn't be seen to me on said schematic (unless I missed them). The problem has gone now (for me) as i've dropped it off at the local repair man. Thks.

I was corresponding with someone from the Netherlands about a different piece of gear (tape recorder) and learned that European versions can or do contain more fuses than their North American counterparts. In the case of what I was discussing with the Netherlands resident, it was pointed out that seven fuses were incorporated in the European version whereas only a single fuse is in the North American model.

Late to this party but I'm glad you got that amp going again, Gary. I love the Sony stuff from that era - proper looking stereo components. And yes, do I hear you about the memories. Been doing too much reflecting on missed opportunities of my own lately.

The TA-1150 and ST-5150 were the core of my original system. 1975 and I was a teen who always had the volume at 11 all the time. That amp section didn’t last too long, so it was replaced by a Dynaco ST-120, which I built…and last year I completely restored that old amp. Sounds great again.
The Sony stuff was tossed years ago, replaced with the PL 2000 II and PL 400 II…the 400 II is now a WOPL…and it ROCKS!

long story, but I recently came across the Sony product catalog from 1973….
