- Broken beyond repair but highly affable
Caveat: It did NOT like a recent Sony HF much, it pulled the tape out some but did record.
The FF/REW seems a bit slower than I'd expect and it sometimes won't but the speed is correct and steady during recording and playback. Balance is clean and the controls are noise-free. The LED meters work correctly and the headphone jack is okay. RCAs work correctly and the rec/play switch also functions as it should. Dolby B seems fine but it's quiet anyway.
Recording in SX/70 us mode on 1986 Maxell XLII-S produced excellent results from a laserdisc soundtrack for James Taylor In Concert. It played my prerecorded copy of TOTO IV and an MIC XLII equally well. ZX/metal not tested.
I'd like $30 but given the ff/rew problem it's more like $15 and for parts or repair plus shipping from 97914, your choice of shipper.
I do not know what the problem is caused by, offhand.
