EQ's: Any recommendations?

Thinking about possibly adding an EQ to my kit. Which one or one's would you fine folks suggest? A slimmer profile would be preferred as I am running out of rack space and would be looking for one under 7" tall. Thanks for your time.
 
The Onkyo is pretty skiny, so is the Pioneer..

I've got a dbx 2015 that is a very nice 15 band stereo graphic eq...Too bad you don't have more space, I would say get an SAE 2800. I have two of them and I doubt if I'll ever use another equalizer. Love 'em. I have them in my main system and in the bedroom.
The dbx is nice, though. It's quiet and effective. The 15 bands is very nice to have too. It's only one rack space high.
 
I think most of us are going to respond with our pet-equalizers we are currently using in our own systems, but perhaps a new unit from companies such as:

dbx (http://dbxpro.com/en/product_families/equalizers)

or BBE (http://www.bbesound.com/products/equalizers/default.aspx) would fit the bill, Douglas. Many of the eqs being offered are for pro-applications, so there might be a need for adapter cables to go to XLR or 1/4" jack to RCA.

If you want to go the vintage route some of the older equalizers that have spectrum analyzers and can adapt your system for a flat frequency response would be neat. I have the Sansui SE-9.

I haven't priced out any of the eqs I made reference to, but the SE-9 has probably more usable features than the BBE or dbx equalizers. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's less capable, as we have all been finding out.

I've had the SE-9 for a number of years, but I can imagine that a good working one will be in the $400 range, nowadays.

Thanks for the head's up, everybody. Nando, that is a fun- looking EQ!!! AFter doing a little poking around on the web, I may go the way of a Yammie EQ550:

I have been a fan of the Natural Sound gear for a while and will fit in the rig without a hitch. Looks kinda sweet and won't cost a ton.
 
This was one of my best GW scores to date ad still in my system, the Audio Source EQ-one, same one as seen in Ferris Buellers Day off.

Gotta love those spectral analyzer lights, just adds to the music.
It sits damn near 7" maybe closer to 8.

Douglas: The Yamaha should fit your needs. Are you going to be using it within your recording or playback stage?

I think it will be primarily for playback, Nando. Hoping to use even more of the Audacity for my mastering needs. But you never know...... I am sure I will do a bit of experimenting with it.
 
The yammie ge30 I just got looks identical to that minus the digital meter.. It really adds some color and life to the system. And it's fun lol

Your Yammie seems to be a nice EQ! You got a wicked- killa deal at $5.
