Nice work Lee! I think I have some copper here but I do have some thick aluminum also. Have to look into this, just a little nervous taking the PL 400 apart to see where I can drill holes safely

Don't blame ya there. Don't need more holes, use the ones that are there..
I was thinking of something else Lee, wondering if I could incorporate the existing ones also for more surface area. Looking at the amp there is not many options other then bolting doner heatsinks between the fins on each out of some receivers I don't use. Just thinking extra surface area right now. I have no thick sheet copper

A low speed fan is much more effective than more surface area and no forced convection. Try a 12V fan running on lower voltage, like 7 volts.

Hot Air Rises and Heat Sinks: Everything You Know About Cooling Electronics Is Wrong

I just ran into this while performing some research on the "Audio Engineering Society" web site: http://www.aes.org/par/book/

Does anybody have a copy of this book?

Kordyban, Tony Hot Air Rises and Heat Sinks: Everything You Know About Cooling Electronics Is Wrong (ASME Press ISBN 0791800741, 1998). [A collection of myths, mistakes, and "lessons learned" from practicing engineers involved in the field of electronic equipment cooling. In between headaches, Tony Kordyban joyfully explains why everything you know about cooling electronics is wrong. A MUST-HAVE book for anyone involved in cooling electronics.]

Tony's follow up book is "More Hot Air"
