Dummy Loads

Hi,
Radio Shack a few years back sold these as loads specifically for test amplifiers. No where near the power rating you guys are speaking of, more of a FYI.

Nope, 20 watts wouldn't quite do it , unless you had 20 or so.
 
Yep, knew that..... I likely have 10 or 12 around here someplace wired up in a series / parallel configuration. Used them at one time when I had to do some work on my Music Man tube amp. Turns out after much frustration the amp was fine but the factory molded cable between the amp and speaker was junk. Until I built a load I had no way to test being I was living in an apartment at the time. Why is it neighbors just don't get 100 watts of test tones?
 
Should have driven the whole apartment complex screaming into the streets.
 
This is a picture of one of my dummy loads. I think the Phase Linear will make them warm, but I'm not looking forward to any smoke or flames from this setup.

I have a pair of 4oo watters and the 700's do get em hot.
