Yeah, but now I want details, who, where, when, how, what....
You must be asking about the 700 chassis - I went back and looked at the photo George posted and only now did I see it had more drivers than the 400 and the layout of the fuses/input/output area was a 700 for sure. What a great thing to get and G is concerned 'cause he thought it was a 400 chassis - G you did good man and I know that Lee is one very happy camper. :glasses2:

I don't think Claire ran Ser II's. But they did run a shitload of B's manufactured to their own spec's. In fact I have a schemo for a Claire Bros 700.

You've seen both up close and personal but from photos and now owning a 700 the ass end of the chassis layout seems very similar between the 700's.

Derek: If you were to play "Star Sphongled Banner" through the NAD, the deep low frequencies on playback would result in lower resistance loading than the nominal 8 ohm and 6 ohm rating of your speakers. Speakers' resistance varies - it's not a straight line. If you're friend wants to discover what his amp is capable of, I would leave it for him to experiment. If an NAD can run electrostatics such as low efficiency Magnepan speakers, that's an indication of what that amp is capable of.

I've totally lost the plot....
It's a shame you don't have much money D2, as these JBL 4311 would be a damn good "entry level" pair of speakers to get.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JBL-4311...=AU_Hi_Fi_Speakers&hash=item4613d3e1d2&_uhb=1

These are in for their second stint as they passed in last time at $900.
They've been re-listed, but this time starting at $299.
Not original, but still good, and something worth watching at least.

There's a very similar pair (JBL 4312) which are the next model after, listed here:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JBL-4312...=AU_Hi_Fi_Speakers&hash=item43bf5f5863&_uhb=1

..... also not original, but really only as far as the finish is concerned, otherwise cool.

The previously mentioned 4311 were really meant to be hung from a ceiling in a studio, which is why they're 'upside down' but work great either way. Plus there's nothing to stop you from having 'em any way you want really, even sideways. It's all about location....

it'll be interesting to see how these two JBL's end up, as the 4312's have been re-listed a couple o' times now.

At least it's something worth watching, and a great source for pictures to familiarise yourself with JBL's, which have been many recording studio reference standards for many many years, because they can take a hiding and some..... :toothy10:
