Decent cross overs?

Anyone know of decent cross overs for a speaker build that can handle the power these PL amps put out?

Active also meant to say 3 way but for shits and grins passive as well to compare prices I think active is far superior.. maybe someone has either of them in kit form?

Even though they are offshore in Australia they are reliable and good people. A wealth of info found at this site. Check out EBay for Rane crossovers. These are ex Phase people in Washington. At lot of info is available on their web site in white papers. Very good library.

Here's the first paragraph of his thoughts on crossovers:

Passive crossovers have dreadful performance. This is another extensive topic that I cannot address adequately in this interview. So just allow me to summarize by saying that passive crossovers have the well-known problems of phase shift, hysteresis losses, group delay, inadequately steep crossover slopes, and distortion. Less appreciated is the fact that they insert inductors, capacitors, and resistors between the amplifier and the speaker’s drivers. This isolates the woofer from the amplifier and prevents the amplifier from having tight control of the driver. Or to put it another way, the damping factor of the amplifier is degraded by passive crossovers.

That explains why the homebrews I made from Pioneer four ways with active crossovers worked so well...it still took Onkyo tweeters to make them complete.

Interesting unit. The only thing that caught my eye was the 0.9Vrms output level. At double the price, the HD unit has 2.0Vrms output.

Keep us posted on how this works out if you use one of these.

MiniDSP has jumper settings for .9 and 2 Vrms.
