Dazen’s Digest

I second that my friend!!! I hereby say that all pics and music of Micheal Bolton are banned from this forum, may we save the young ones from such blasphemy please!!!!!

I don't think that Derek gives a crap, honestly, the rest of us are over 45.

Which one did you miss? was it 'please please me'?

I'm pretty good with London locations, so that one was actually the easiest. EMI's office used to be in Manchester Square (where the photo on the cover was taken).

Q4 was the one I got wrong.

I'm not a Beatles aficionado and would have failed any serious quizzing on the subject.

Must read...

Very interesting article:

Have a look at the dynamics of a High Res. 24bit/96Khz FLAC download from the highly acclaimed audiophile album by Steely Dan: Gaucho....

Track One - Babylon Sisters (24bit/96Khz FLAC High Res. Stereo):

Judge for yourself if those $18,- (complete album download) were a well spent investment or not..

What are we looking for Miles? Is the less crowded graph cleaner sounding or does that represent missing content? Very interesting article. I think I'm halfway through it. Hard to read on the phone.

I got the cassette for Christmas in 1980 for free and it still plays.

I think I also have the 8-track.

It's just the other way round Lee, the first graph should give the "audiophile" surprise... but it doesn't.
50% of the total dynamics is lost in the compression (read: loudness war) and flattened at -1dB to avoid clipping.

Sorry for being too technical Lee....

Last year I had to do a bunch of stuff to save that boys' choir recording on the CD as the You Tube video of the concert had some real problems and almost got scrapped.

There is a big difference between 'loudness wars' and rescuing a recording with valid techniques.

Big?

I know steven....

But there's also a big difference between a boys' choir on YouTube and a masterpiece such as Gaucho by Steely Dan.
