Some more gadgets....

I laid my hands on something very similar to this today:

Bassdrum.jpg

Yes, I know.... It's a bassdrum.

This one will be transformed to a new cabinet to put my Pioneer stuff in..

Miles: What ever possessed you to go Pioneer and not Sony? I am supposed to be the Pioneer guy. With the first hint - an Elite 7.2 channel A/V receiver? So if there is more, have you got a few other A/V system components - like a companion Pioneer Elite BDP model 4K Blu-ray player?

Amalgamate the two brands and what do you come up with? PIONY? SONEER?

Nando.

The answer is quite simple: Pioneer had the best options for the budget I had in mind.
Offerings by Sony are quite poor at the moment.

The QS stuff is piled up for a moment, but it will get a new destination in my workingspace...

Nobody does HT AVR like Pioneer, "Elite" or otherwise. Nobody.

I was a Denon guy for what I thought was the long haul, once Dolby Digital took hold, but now I'm a diehard - to the end - Pioneer soldier.

Pioneer has something for everyone.

Love that picture Miles, especially the stack of cables beside it all. Really adds to the atmosphere. I can tell you are a finicky fellow, when it comes to your gear. I like it. :hello1:

Broken beyond repair but highly affable
I love the flashing blue segmented meters.

Sure, it's only a blue filter but I don't have to buy phony blue LEDs.

Thank you Ben.

And yeah... The cables... Very different in relation to just three small HDMI 2.0 cables that were needed to get my whole new circus on the road...

'Fussy bastard' would be more appropriate.

I do love the ease of HDMI. My WiiU, DVD player, and Computer, all hook up into my stereo via HDMI through my TV.

It would seem you are as finicky a videophile as you are an audiophile. Or as Daren would say "A fussy audio/video bastard"

Probably Ben... ;-)

The only important difference is the price I paid for my new Pioneer BluRay player (which can play all kinds of formats without problems)..
It is just a tiny bit of what I paid for my Sony QS DVD-SACD player new years ago.

I'm not settled with it yet.

Main futures are running, but there is still a lot of stuff on it that needs to be discovered...

But: Hell Yeah! .. That's half the fun!
