Dazen’s Digest

You must be an early 80's New Wave nerd.....

Only in my dreams Miles.

While all of my friends were listening to:
Siouxie And The Banshees, Joy Division, The Cure, The Passions, Talking Heads, Gang Of Four, Echo And The Bunnymen, Suicide, XTC, The Sound, etc, etc....

I kept it strictly to intellectual and very complicated structures by the masters of Jazz-Rock of a doomed era at that time....

I would have expected nothing less from one of the world's great minds...

Meanwhile, my IQ has just recently broken through the double digit barrier. That means I get to progess to the likes of smooth jazz and adult contemporary music.

It will be a good few years yet before I move up to jazz-rock.

That is grim.

Public Image Ltd recorded one good song - "Poptones"- from their Metal Box album. That is the only PiL I can swallow without being sick. :pukeright:

Can't view it if you are in the uSA....

It's never too late for you...

I was into all of those and swing/big band as well as dabblings in jazz and whatever when I started listening to college radio c.1981.

Joy Division and Jools Holland weren't exactly Top 40 fodder in Boise, Idaho.

I'm Casey Kasem, and at number 27 this week is an interesting band that seems to be fascinated by Hitlereugen and whose lead singer dances like an epileptic epiphany...JOY DIVISION :sign6:

Actually, after the initial shock, listening to Casey swear like a sailor in outtakes is kinda fun!

That's a Herculean effort for the sake of something novel. But somebody is always up to the task. Thanks, Daren.

Nando.

A very cool website! I'll have to peruse it just short of abuse.

Ten best in what class? The lightweight division of 7 kilos or less? Oh boy, you picked a good one to rile up the troops, Daren.

Nando.

Yea...let's make a crappy portable turntable (because vinyl is so portable) to play high quality lp's through 2" Bluetooth speakers. Make em look vintage, they'll sell like hot cakes!

Terrible quality units. Trying to give vinyl a bad name or something. I watched a documentary on the 'return of vinyl', didn't see one even average quality unit, all plastic crap. They would be better off buying an old 80's componetry amp/tuner and turntable combo second hand from someone who has moved away from the format. At least that's half way there to hi-fi.
