Chris's Spec 2 restoration

Lee
I suspect the wire started that way. I notice the same thing in my old Realistic TM-1001. My conclusion is that these Japanese brands used wire that is half hard or not fully annealed. It breaks during the unwrap process sometimes. The good quality Kynar I have does not exhibit that problem. Yeah I have wire wrap gun and bits.

This unit came to me with no RCA jacks, and no backing plate, so we fabbed one.

Thanks for the explaination Joe.

On first try, it would not come out of protection. The right meter was deflected to 40 watts and the protect circuit held it out. Unplugged one board, wasn't it, unplugged the other board, wasn't it. It was a transistor on the meter amp board I had replaced, onl;y I had replaced an NPN with a PNP. Got the right one in there and tried again. Came out of protect but one protect relay is not closing. Tracing it now. The protect circuit in the Spec 2 can make ya dizzy tracing shit through it.

Ummmm........ the relay that wouldn't pull in is for the other transformer tap when running in 4 ohms. Ready to test .Warming up the AP.

Testing--1,2,3---4

Frequency response at 10 watts output into 8 ohms.
Equally impressive.

Gotta set the current limiters before we do a max output.

343/338 watts RMS into 8 ohms just before clipping.
I must say again, the Spec 2's are some well built and well engineered amps.
