This was bought for Chris in Ft. Dodge. Looks pretty good till ya flip the hood up on it. IO'm guessing it wouldn't come out of protection, so you take the protection relay out and wire it direct. The STV-3H and STV-4H diodes have beenm replaced with something wrapped up in a # 10 ring terminal. They didn't even bother to bolt the amp module back in. This will be a long term winter project. The more I look the worse it gets.

Re: A Pioneer Spec 4 HACK JOB

Yep, I'm guessing the wrong one. 150 mv DC offset is not a good first sign. Mr. Burke arrived an hour ago with his daughter and the 400 in tow. He has a couuple sets of Dahlquist DQ-10's and 20's. I can scratch that speaker off my "Want to hear" list. James says they wouldn't even begin to be in the same neighborhood as the Horns. A nice guy Joe. The first big bass note on Crystal Method, track 4 brought the little girl plumb outta her seat.

That spec 4 is pretty crunchy inside Lee based on the earlier photos you posted.

The Spec 2 was the dusty one that you shared earlier Lee? Did you get both at the same time?

No Joe, got the Spec 2 a couple weeks ago, got the Spec 4 yesterday.

The Spec 2 is just dirty, hasn't been butchered like the 4 has.

Beins I've got a relatively cherry Spec 4 in from Rick, thought it would be a good time to fix this one too. Sometimes there is no substitute for a side by side comparison.

Well, this Spec 4 has been sitting on the bench idling for 4 houirs. can not find a thing wrong with it except the weird unit in place of the STV-3H. It seems to be tracking rather close. Gonna hook it up to the AP, get my other meter out and check tracking from idle to 200 wats/ channel.

In addition to there being the wrong outputs on the left channel, there was a broken collector wire wrap on one of the NPN OUTPUTS. wATUSI INDEED.
