Ah yup. That's the one in You put in the warfdale ?. I had the 15" version of that.

Ok. So tell me if I'm crazy. The hivi has higher Xmax and a 3" voice coil. I though when igot them, it made sense to me that the woofer VC being smaller then the mid seemed odd? So I put weight in that decision. Seemed to me that the relative motor structure made sense?

Take a step back with me for a moment. Might be a good point to look at some test software and equipment. At the most basic, the woofer tester at PE might be a decent place to start? That would be a relatively quick and easy answer to then move forward with test enclosures....

I could try my hand at Speaker Workshop again. Pretty complex but it should be like riding a bike ( yeah right LOL).

You can only go by numbers so far. It is your ears. That gets frustrating unless you have a test box and can interchange drivers. They still have to be burned in. It cost that guy 900.00 for me to do those. He is still very happy. Had to make house call. Wire came off.

Are you trying to say that I shouldn't bother with any testing? Other then listening? I'm not trying to bait you into a debate.

You can test. You can go crazy. All the testing in the world will not give you the sound. There are so many things you can't test that will influence the sound. Use your findings. As a guide not as gospel. Even the fill can affect the sound. How do you put numbers to it? Your box construction and many other things.

I had 2 sets of boxes. 1 for 10 inch and one for 6 inch. I didn't vent and tried to get as close as I could on VAS I had a closet full of different drivers. LOL

Did you ever try the morel 10"? They are basically identical to the 6's, just a bigger cone. Seemed like a woofer should be beefier. But for a 2-way that's different.

Yeah I remember seeing vifa and peerless everywhere. That's what Snell used a lot of. You might have liked those original designs, I'm guessing.
