Ferrite beads for some form of filtering.
THe principles in the article apply, although this was an article on use in power supplies. The likely reason for the ferrites on the RCA inputs, I am guessing, has more to do with suppression of digital noise produced inside the DAC from becoming conducted and radiated EMI outside of the box caused by the digital electronics inside the box.
