WTF?

This is CB's older sister made with a Rev A backplane and a Rev D control board. I took the opportunity to raise the control board to 1.5 inches and also reroute some of the hookup wire based on things I've learned since building it. Unfortunately this was before I started using Navo's teflon insulated wire. Sadly, she came with no name.

I did. Thinking of putting warning labels on them. DO NOT SHORT OUTPUTS! Joe, do you think the fuses would go before damage to the amp?
Hi Fred
You could not depend on the fuses to do that. Fuses are orders of magnitude slower than semiconductor protection. Just be careful with your speaker leads.

A little reminder never hurts. I can't imagine wiring in the speaks with an amp on though....

Seems the right channel meter gets stuck at home now and then. A tap and it starts working again. Anybody seen this before? Misadjusted or broken stop?
Wonky meters...at least you didn't have a fly crawling on your needles. He did unstick my left meter for awhile, never did find the bugger...

Does the needle sweep unobstructed? I had one that hung up on the aluminum plate that the designations are stenciled on. The two face tape that held it to the back of the meter housing had dried out.

It swings unobstructed until momentum on the back swing causes it to stick. I'll just have to open it up and check. Hopefully it will be something easy like replacing some tape.

One of my 700B meters would not move from rest at a low volume level. I have a small (approx. 1 gallon) compressor with a trigger nozzle attachment and carefully blew some air into the mechanism. I made sure the compressor was only partially charged so it produced a fairly gentile gust to minimize damaging anything. It was probably only a little more forceful that blowing air through lips but the nozzle directed and concentrated the flow where I wanted it. There must have been some debris inside because afterwards, the affected meter responded like the unaffected one.

Good tip. Thanks.

They do look good on the "B"'s.....
They do. This amp had the plastic knobs with D shaft switches. Thanks to your donation of circle shaft switches I could convert to the aluminum knobs. Thanks Lee!

Meter sticking issue solved by bending the meter stop a tiny bit. Now it can't travel to the area where it tended to stick.
