Not sure I do. A parabola is two sided, and exponential graph should look like an F-16 taking off and going vertical rather quickly.

yes it does, but it never meets the right hand scale......

so the gap gets infinitely smaller but the x and y axis never touch.
damn, I wish I was a rocket scientist so I knew the correct terminology.....

so sorry Lee.

I realise I've been neglecting my thread, so here's wot's new...

Well, today I managed to secure a great deal. I've mentioned it elsewhere, but to put it in a nutshell, I picked up:
6 IMAX Sonics 800x (re-boxed Bryston monoblock amps, but yet to be identified as to exactly which model. Need to do the 'tongue test'.),
1x IMAX speaker box, and
2x IMAX 18" subs, and some sort of graphic EQ, Sonics branded, but as yet, I'm unaware of who really made it, but I'll know soon enough.

Pickup arranged for 8pm tomorrow night, so I'll be a helluva lot smarter about the whole package then.
Pix to follow soon thereafter.....

So not much to do except get pretty wasted 'till then. I think I might start with this little red pill first, and I'll have the little yellow one a bit later. Yep, sounds like a plan.....

.... but for now, I just might have a go at finishing off these speaker surrounds that arrived today.
Hmmmmmm...... nah, I think I'll go and eat something. :tongue10:

Parallax/parallel? Trending on Yahoo! but not dating? Maybe I need to break the hermetic seal on the Funk and Wagnalls under my porch.

Is it the IMAX with the TAD in it??

Sadly, it's not.....
I'm not sure what it is.
IMAX came out in three different flavours.
The first had all JBLs.
The second had the TAD and Eminence.
The third had, and I'm not 100% on this, but possibly a Celestion and possibly Eminence combination.
With the original sale, the first two boxes bought, did have the TAD. They are now in the studio.
There is one more of these IMAX boxes out there, and the guy that has it has actually another pair plus that one, and had planned on using the three in his HT setup, but in all honesty, I think having that 3rd box is more of an obstacle especially if you have a large tv in front of it.
So tomorrow, hopefully the opportunity may present itself to secure that 'other' box, and so completing a 2nd system. Can only hope.....

UDATE:

A reply from Bryston...

"We did indeed manufacture the Sonics 800X for Sonics, who supplied the sound systems for IMAX. The units were roughly equivalent to a 7B NRB, but had a modular input board/rear panel, to allow filtering and other processing specific to the application. Depending on the rear panel module installed, they could be used as a mono or stereo amp.
Some units also had limiters built in to the channels, which is great in a theatre application, but may not be great for home Hi Fi."

BD -you scored Buddy!!!! That's some massive wattage for the money. How much to ship em to Gillette, Wyo, USA, Earth ?????????

I still don't believe it!
..... but tonight at 8pm I will.

There's still one more IMAX box to track down tho', which will take a lot of doing to acquire and then there'll be two separate systems.
It's worth it.

I've been following this thread and read up a little on Imax - damn what a (are we in the cave?) fc#king score! Can I come over to listen? Between you with all your speaks and Lee with his K-horns and the killer amps you both have - I just don't know what to do.

If you can find the half way point between Lee's and my place, I think the stereo imaging and the sound field should be huge!
A little more than 1 1/2 hours to go, then it's on my way......
