Amps go DC all the time. I've had a few cause fires within speaker boxes. Ya gotta be quick to put them out, but crowds generally love that sort of thing. .... and of course, you always end up being the hero which generally guarantees a r**t for the night..... heh heh heh....
When I was DJing for parties in my late teens, a root was guaranteed, just find out what music your choice of girl likes :evil1:. I assume the Amps go DC lots because they were under so much strain? Crap gear would have pissed you off too if you were forced to work with it.

Pro amps go DC 'cause they get turned off and on LOTS and run pretty well at maximum for about 2 hours, 5-7 days a week. Add to that the bump and grind from transportation, and it's just a matter of time......
Yep, used some very neglected and not up to par stuff at times, but I solved that by starting up my own company and using only quality stuff, and turn it over yearly, so as to not suffer from devaluation any more than I had to. ....and kept putting profits back into the business and not into my pocket.

Good morning George, what's planned for the day?

Usual routine for me, back to work at 230am tomorrow morning to clean the meat cooker. Day went well and very little fatigue and the boss absolutely stoked with my work, kind of weird cos the previous employer gave no praise at all. About to cook up a feed, am being lazy playing flacs (instead of vinyl and tape), a fair bit of lifting today, its getting easier all the time. Had the Garbage mix tape running in the alpine to and from work, some nice sounds there from the Nak 480 (when it was recording), will fix soon.

Hope those kitties are doing good, purrrrr. ^o-o^

Did you listen to No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom? If so what did you think, one of my personal favorites.

Morning George (for when you get your ass out of bed) =)))
Do you have this video bootleg: Pearl Jam - Live in Amsterdam 1992
The reason I ask is because it is a VCD video but they have hooked the sound directly up to the soundboard, and in between songs they switch to the standard camera microphone (so you can hear the audience). The soundboard soundtrack is just awesome, I think I like it because its so raw but still very clear with good bass. Has been many years since I have seen this so have dug out to give it a run on my current sound system, should be a nice listen. Will send it to you if you don't have it, certainly a must see. Eddie Vedder gets cranky with the sound guy at one stage during the show because a microphone connection fails, so he jumps onto the backup mic and it takes forever for them to turn it on, not to mention stage divers, you'll see :laughing9:

Update: It sounds awesome, room is shaking with that great live sound

Bloody musos. the more highly strung they are, the harder it is to work with them.
the things 'we' do to chase our passions, (e.g. mixing), but there's a limit, and when they start to publicly humiliate you, just turn it all off, and stand back, and wait for the apology.
if it doesn't come, then you go back stage, and belt them one, right on the nose.
(.... and 9 times out of 10, they start crying like a little girl)
most Musos used to be appreciative and used to put a lot of work into what they did, but as attitudes changed with the times, they eventually turned into primadonnas that you just couldn't work with anymore.
So, I guess I left the whole thing at about the right time.
Ask any sound guy "how many musician friends do you have?", and the answer will pro'ly be ".... zero".

.... oh, and I almost forgot to mention, the only person more highly strung than a singer/muso, is a sound guy.

He doesn't humiliate the sound guy, just points at him then points to the microphone =)

I'm no expert, but I think the sound guy did a wonderful job, it came out fantastic and you wont believe its a vcd you are watching.

It just doesn't make sense how good the sound is on the vcd, that's all I'm saying, sure opened my eyes up when I first watched it. The picture is all pixelated due to low resolution video 320X240 but the sound is amazing, and vcd only uses 128-224kb mp2 compression.

Do you have Paul McCartney & Wings "One hand clapping" in anything other than the VHS ripped version?

I can't find a single trace of that Pearl Jam 1992 Amsterdam concert on the net, there is one which was done in june 1992 but not this one which is feb 1992, I got this through a private trade about 10 years ago.
